I know it's just the crown or whatever but I've been enjoying it
I'm glad we decided to play

When OSU missed the tournament in the 07-08 season and made the NIT. It was a blast watching them win the NIT that season.

Winning the NIT last year was sadly one of the greatest experiences I’ve had as a sports fan in my life.

You are having more fun now than any big ten team. Enjoy it.

I just checked and this is technically the most important post season tournament

No fact checks please, NEBRASKETBALL TO THE REAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Where was this from Nebraska all season? They looked so good

u/Mr-Cantaloupe Michigan State Spartans • No… 21h ago
They’ve had the pieces all year and have gone on runs. People forget they were a tournament lock until they decided to lose the last 5 games of the season.

u/TaftIsUnderrated Nebraska Cornhuskers 21h ago
Started 12-2, then a 6 game losing streak, then had a 5-1 run, then a 5 game losing streak to end the season. The Crown just happens to be during one of our good stretches.
16
u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 21h ago
They were given like 80+% odds going into those last five and just fully played themselves out
8
u/heavydhomie Ohio State Buckeyes 21h ago
Similar to my Buckeyes. I think both Nebraska and OSU suffered greatly not having a quality post guy
7
u/Mr-Cantaloupe Michigan State Spartans • No… 21h ago
Definitely. Both of you guys had stars and could beat any team in the country, just couldn’t get it done down the stretch.

u/heavydhomie Ohio State Buckeyes 21h ago
I’m excited for Tilley next year. His highlights make him look good on offense but his stats make me think he’s not the best defender. We still need another post from the portal and I’m all the way back with the basketball team next year

u/fazelenin02 Nebraska Cornhuskers 19h ago
Yep, Rienk Mast had knee surgery in the off-season and we had to go to band aids at center all year. Luckily he's back next year, unluckily we are losing our two other good players, so we will just have other issues next year.

u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 19h ago
No idea how we replace Brice's production especially
3
u/fazelenin02 Nebraska Cornhuskers 19h ago
It's like Moneyball, you can't replace the guy, but you can replace the 20 points 6 rebounds 3 assists he gives you. If we do well in the portal, we should have a more well rounded rotation and offense. I like both of our new guys so far, but we need a good point guard, at least two wings, and ideally one more front court guy. We'll see how it goes

Sandafort from Iowa looks to be a good pickup for y’all. You will need a couple more.

Nebraska's been decent this season if one simply ignores their six game losing streak in January and them losing six of seven to end the regular season.
They lost 13 games to B1G opponents, but only one game outside the conference.

u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 19h ago
And the one loss was a close one to a good St. Mary's team that was technically at a neutral site (Sioux Falls lol)

I guess the Huskers saved up all their would-be March Madness wins for this…
…not a bad move, I suppose!

I would trade this and everything more for a single damn win in March in the REAL tournament 😭

u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 21h ago
The crown IS the real tournament . I don't see the NCAAs having a SICK sponsor like Ghost energy drinks

If Nebraskaball wins the Crown, does that break the spell?
Everybody lamenting a lack of Cinderellas in the NCAAT but we've got a different Disney princess right here.

This BSU team was such a frustrating, underachieving bunch. They rarely looked good when playing against a decent team, and today's game was another example.
15
u/MoistAd5423 Nebraska Cornhuskers 21h ago
I’m not used to Nebraska being called a decent team. Are you sure?
10
u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 21h ago
I mean top 50 kenpom in a sport with 350ish teams is at least decent
7
u/TaftIsUnderrated Nebraska Cornhuskers 21h ago
Being decent usually means qualifying for your own conference tournament, but not always apparently
6
u/fromthemasses Omaha Mavericks 19h ago
Nebraska is arguably not a decent B1G team but relative to D1 hoops broadly they are
5
u/bretticus733 Boise State Broncos 21h ago
Yeah, overall this team was a major disappointment and underachieved big time. My frustration with Leon Rice continues
3
u/Shrektastic28 Boise State Broncos 21h ago
This is not a Leon issue, the guys just aren’t shooting well. That’s not a coaching issue but a player issue. He has been a great coach adapting to our atrocious outside shooting.
4
u/Mamba-42 Boise State Broncos 21h ago
I will never understand people who rag on Leon Rice. Dude is a great guy and a very good basketball coach. He could easily have a power conference job but likes Boise. We should be grateful. Boise basketball was a big nothing before him.
2
u/Shrektastic28 Boise State Broncos 19h ago
Agreed, many programs would kill for three straight NCAA tournament appearances
2
u/bretticus733 Boise State Broncos 18h ago
My issue is we've seemed to hit a ceiling under Rice. He's done a great job elevating the floor of the program, but at the same time the program can absolutely go further and just hasn't been able to take that next step. 0-5 in March Madness, some really disappointing MWC tournaments, and then this year was just the biggest failure of Rice's tenure. At some point, we gotta ask ourselves if we're just fine with settling for decent seasons that don't go anywhere or if we wanna take that risk to elevate the basketball program a step further.

Nebraska and UCF in the first CBC title game. Who will be known as the team who got the first ever crown. It'd be funny if it was Nebraska lol. They've never won a NCAA tournament game but they can win CBC games. Lol.
1
u/Salmene23 5h ago
They have won the NIT.
•
u/shawn131871 Creighton Bluejays 1h ago
Yeah but I'm talking about the NCAAT not the NIT. Nit isnt what it used to be.

When do we play Duke?
