Prizes

The winner of this weeks battle will:

The Rules

  • Submit your entry as a comment to this thread.

You can post as many as you want.

  • To vote for an entry, just upvote the users comment.

You can vote for as many different entries as you want, but please do not downvote. Downvotes will not be counted when deciding winners.

  • Every entrant gets a contributor flair.

These will be handed out by a bot, but due to our comment hiding system, sometimes it misses people. If you entered but didn't get one, just send the mods a message, and we'll fix you up.

  • Please be sure to tag NSFW entries appropriately.

If you see anything inappropriate that's not tagged, either report the comment or send a message to the moderators.

The Schedule

  • All entries will be hidden for the first 48 hours.

  • Voting will open on Tuesday, after which all entries will be visible.

Contest mode will be enabled for another 24 hours. This will sort comments randomly, obscure vote counts, and automatically minimize child comments.

  • Contest mode will be disabled on Wednesday.

From there on out, each comment's vote total will be visible, and entries can be sorted by karma (just like any other reddit thread).

  • The battle will end on Saturday, September 27th.

Next week's battle will be posted early Sunday morning.

Best of luck, everyone, and don't forget to have fun!

Great work!

I'm particularly impressed with the floor. You took out the piano and the bench, but the floor pattern looks seamless. Mind if I ask how you did it?

I'm sorry for replying to this so late. I'm a student full time and I work full time, so it's often hard for me to make windows to give decent explanations and such. I used a technique I found called frequency separation. It's basically dividing the image into two layers: A gaussian blur of the image, and then a high pass filter that is the exact inverse of the gaussian blur layer. It essentially lets you separate the image into its texture and tone. Place the texture layer on top of the tone and set the texture layer to linear light. You'll find a better explanation if you search for tutorials on YouTube, because there are quite a few steps involved in getting this technique to work and they can explain it better than I can.

So for the floor I just clone stamped the floor textures, and then I used a big fuzzy brush and colored in the color of the floor on the tone layer.

You got a great result with the technique in this image. I'll definitely look it up.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! All the best for your work and studies.

maybe put an oncoming semi truck in the background, like he's about to get hit by the truck but he's so distracted he doesn't see it?

you are correct, sir.

The piano keys are actually pretty subtle. Took me a second look a day later to realize they weren't train tracks

I would have thought playing the piano would make you good at QWOP. It seems not.

2

u/Shappie Sep 24 '14

If anyone tells you they are good at QWOP, they're lying.

1

u/i4NDR3W Sep 25 '14

No one said it would be a fair fight...

1

u/randomdreamer Sep 26 '14

Chuck Norris fought and defeated ALL the characters from ALL the Street Fighter series...in one Round.

2

Władysław "The Pianist" Szpilman, had he been born some decades later.

This is my first time in these Weekly Battles. Dalí would love this piece of art btw.

There is something here that just doesn't fit... I wonder what it is
