Flawlessly subtle. It's so well blended and unexpected!

The spot heater right in front of your eyes! Everyone expects a glitter horse, but he made the centrepiece a very well photoshoped small object from the source. I don't claim to know his motivations, but it felt very punk rock to me, subverting our expectations.

Damn, man. Thank you. Describing my work as being "punk rock" is quite a compliment from my perspective.

u/DrWankalot Sep 23 '15
Yeah I meant it as a compliment! I was pleasantly surprised by the creative use of the source image.

That's beautiful. I was afraid that the source pic may be a little hard to be creative with - I was so wrong! I am literally scrolling through all the entries with a shit eating grin on my face.

Thanks man. The gold look came from using the oil painting effect a few times on a greyed out copy of the image, changing the colour to yellowish and messing with the contrast/brightness.

u/jerryFrankson Sep 24 '15
That's clever! I never would've thought of using the oil painting filter for smooth metal, thanks for the tip :D

You probably already know this, but in case not, the Gekokujo mod can make this a reality.
(It's pretty damn good M&B mod too, in my top 3 of all time having played since beta)

I'll have to check it out once I'm done with viking conquest! What are the other two mods just out of curiosity?

I'd say 16th Century the Northern Hemisphere is pretty good, very expansive world, but not much documentation/support.
It has a very robust troop customization system but it's a little broken, as the primary limiters are money and weight. Low level troops can't carry much weight, but that doesn't stop you from giving them 2-3 inventory slots of hand grenades.
It has a very simplistic luxury trade good system, where you can travel to specific cities for rare goods, and sell them for generally more cash the farther away you take them.
A.I. Combat is a little improved. Polearms are buffed and can be braced. A.I. will actually charge with lances making heavy lancers insanely good in open field. Balanced around a wide variety of combat styles (though custom troops may break this balance).
Player can gain experience from troops in his army ('an older troop' I assume it means a higher level soldier) so there is less grind, but also less early game which is probably the most fun.
Grammar/ spelling aren't quite up to par.
There are very powerful specialty weapons available. Two handed swords with great length and power are awesome, but you'll hate the choice when you are turned into a pincushion by Steppe nomads. 1h is a little limited but their are still good options and steel shield is probably your best bet of living to produce more casualties. There is a Chinese repeater crossbow.
You can ride elephants and camels. I have never acquired an elephant but the camels aren't great. They are flavorful though.
Otherwise I kind of like L'Aigle but it is currently in a barely playable state. It does feature decent singleplayer artillery. There is a lot of balance and expansion on features to go before it's a top tier mod, but if development continues it definitely will be a top tier mod.
