The Rules

The Schedule

  • All entries will be hidden for the first 48 hours.

  • Voting will open on Tuesday, after which all entries will be visible.

    Contest mode will be enabled for another 24 hours. This will sort comments randomly, obscure vote counts, and automatically minimize child comments.

  • Contest mode will be disabled on Wednesday.

    From there on out, each comment's vote total will be visible, and entries can be sorted by karma (just like any other reddit thread).

  • The battle will end on Saturday, January 23rd.

    Next week's battle will be posted early Sunday morning.

Cheers mate! I was well surprised by the numbers, I don't think we've seen this many entries for a while now. This is definitely encouraging seeing as they have declined a bit recently!

Awesome, how did you create the clear glass effect? (If there is a quick way to explain)

Thanks man! Basically I used edge detect on the arm and layered it over the spout, I then began selecting areas of the glass teapot and used them to blend the hand together, smudging in the lines etc before using the plastic wrap filter over it for a bit of shine. The head was layered over a glass bead and blended in, also using pieces of the glass handle for effect. I hope this helps but more or less it was pure fuckery and jiggery pokery :P

Oh man, this is hilarious and so, so, so very disturbing at the same time! Awesome shadowing work on the nip-eyes behind the goggles and on the belly, it makes the blending look really convincing.

Thanks blue_awning! This one was a lot of fun to make. It's more of a silly entry than anything else but I thought it was a fun, and as you said very disturbing, idea. :)

I dig your entry a lot. You managed to get both subjects in the scene nicely and the lighting is fantastic. Great job!

I just now finally noticed the mountains (I searched the stars forever, haha). I'm guessing people didn't see what you did and downvoted. There also seem to be downvote trolls floating around the message board, so they probably account for at least some of the downvotes.
