The stock image for Battle #311 is... Glass Cup

Prizes

The winner of this weeks battle will:

The Rules

  • Submit your entry as a comment to this thread.

You can post as many as you want.

  • To vote for an entry, just upvote the users comment.

You can vote for as many different entries as you want, but please do not downvote. Downvotes will not be counted when deciding winners.

  • Every entrant gets a contributor flair.

These will be handed out by a bot, but due to our comment hiding system, sometimes it misses people. If you entered but didn't get one, just send the mods a message, and we'll fix you up.

  • Winners can enter Weeklies for which they have submitted the stock image, but they will not be eligible to win.

  • Please be sure to tag NSFW entries appropriately.

If you see anything inappropriate that's not tagged, either report the comment or send a message to the moderators.

The Schedule

  • All entries will be hidden for the first 48 hours.

  • Voting will open on Tuesday, after which all entries will be visible.

Contest mode will be enabled for another 24 hours. This will sort comments randomly, obscure vote counts, and automatically minimize child comments.

  • Contest mode will be disabled on Wednesday.

From there on out, each comment's vote total will be visible, and entries can be sorted by karma (just like any other reddit thread).

  • The Battle will end on Saturday, June 16th.

Next week's battle will be posted early Sunday morning.

Best of luck, everyone, and have fun!!

So glad you like it, Jimmel! Somehow it took way too much time... i even skipped lunch lol Need to come up with simplier ideas :)

Btw, i love depth and crispness of your work!

Very cool. I love how you build these images up from scratch. The work on the lighting and shadows is top notch. Actually pretty surprised this isn't at the top to be honest.

I must confess, i tricked a bit with shadows... Actually i recreate this scene in my room on a table with real cup and plate, with lamp over them to create desired shadows and shot with camera...

Then erased everything except shadows and table and used some blending mode (cant remember which one) on this layer and put it over compiled scene, so that way i could not worry about realism of shadows :) I kept plate shadow mostly from png, coz it was already nice, but cup's one is completely real...

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone haha. It turned out great and worthy of top spot in my opinion :)

you have inspired me. i really want to make something similar to learn more. I'm pretty new but a perfectionist and making something similar seems great.

Hey kittieklaw! Im so happy to hear this!

I think watching photo manipulation tutorials at youtube is great way to learn something like this... Also dont give up quickly if some idea doesnt work... take a rest and come back to it after hours or next day with a fresh view... then you see more clearly if idea is worth working on or need to be rearranged... Would like to see your works :)

thanks for the advice!! I'll be working on this... I do really love the program and worked on it a ton last semester when I first finally invested in it. I'm really happy that I found a project too that really made me step outside of my comfort zone and I've learned a ton today just working on it. I only have gotten down to the water (I'm also working on the zombie on at the same time cause I need/want the practice) but I'm hoping to finish it this weekend/monday night by the latest.

if you don't mind I wouldn't mind either replying it here later or just DMing it to you when it's finished! thanks for being a source of inspiration!

Thanks. I swear I must've stared at the original cup image for about 2 hours (on and off). Just couldn't think of anything to do with it.

Very cool. The only thing that is missing in my opinion would be a little bit of shading/shadow on the table top below the glass. The glass and water details you have added on this work together really well and look great. Nice job :)
