[photoshopbattles] /r/photoshopbattles freshens up a room (hilarious photoshop thread)

I'm getting kinda sick of seeing/r/photoshopbattles in /r/bestof. It is never anything really outstanding. Doing that kinda thing is kinda the point of the subreddit. I really just don't think this is /r/bestof material.

photoshopbattles is a great sub but this is not even one of their better posts, imho. Nor this comp the funniest from that topic.

TIME FOR A /R/TRUEBESTOF?

u/gh0st32 Oct 15 '12
No but /r/photoshopbattles sucks and unless its really quality stuff coming from there it shouldn't be in /r/bestof. Its like the cry wolf fable. I am sure they are capable of producing really good stuff but this isn't it.
Full disclosure: I had it out with one of the mods there a few weeks ago. They had questionable content I asked be marked NSFW. He then called my sexuality into question and my activities in other subs which I think was uncalled for.

So... Are you saying /r/photoshopbattles sucks because of whatever happened between you and one of the mods?
3
u/adm7373 Oct 15 '12
I think he's just openly stating that his opinion of the sub might be biased by his interactions with the mods, which I think is downright decent of him and is probably justified given his account of the interaction(s).

No, that has nothing to do with it at all, I added that just in case my objectivity would be called into question. I am saying this because of the dubious quality of this post in particular and saturation as a whole. /r/bestof I think should be equivalent to a reddit oscar and only reserved for the best of what any sub has to offer. This post isn't it at least in my opinion. That said I think they are capable of producing some hilarious content worthy of praise and being submitted to /r/bestof.

I'm one of the mods and I just went through the mod mail of the last 4 months, there's nothing from gh0st32. Are you sure you messaged us?
As for this post, if you believe this isn't /r/bestof material then you should complain about the subscribers' judgment which led it to the top because apparently they liked it.

u/gh0st32 Oct 15 '12
I didn't message you guys I made a comment in the thread about it which was pounced on. link...
A lot of people like Justin Beiber and LMFAO, tastes are subjective.

I remember this post, I was the one to "unmark" it NSFW because honestly I don't think it is.
However, next time please message the moderators to avoid having other non-mod subscribers respond to your complains/observations in ways that you might not like and also in order to get an answer from the whole moderation team, not only one mod.
Are we okay?

u/gh0st32 Oct 15 '12
Sure, we were never not okay to begin with.

u/humortogo Oct 15 '12
Alright then!
Still, I am sorry you feel that way about /r/photoshopbattles

Hey, if it becomes a default, then it would be ineligible automatically. This seems doable. Just get a lot of people to add it to their front-page and you're on the way. It seems like exactly the sort of mindless repetitive crap that belongs on the defaults.

Doing that kinda thing is kinda the point of the subreddit.
Not really. The point of the sub is to submit one shopped pic for voting. Those guys did that for shits and giggles.

They have weekly battles, which is for shits and giggles. They do that for shits and giggles all the time.

I don't really understand why this is funny? They're just adding random things to the picture. Doesn't even really seem skilled.
I feel like it could be funny if it was subtler, but this just seems forced

Exactly. From the title, I was expecting them to take a college dorm and make it look like a high-class smoking lounge, not randomly throw garbage into an already serviceable photo.

Things like this make it very apparent to me that "funny" is subjective. I don't mind that other people like it, but it's about as funny as a trunk full of dead hookers.

To be fair, in the right context a trunk full of dead hookers could be much funnier

To be pretty frank with you, this sucks quite badly. It isn't even interesting.

No problem. If someone can post uninteresting content I can post my uninteresting opinion about it, right?

Bestof? If this is the "best of reddit" it speaks to the sad state of the site.

These generally stop being funny after the 2nd or 3rd addition. Then I just want to get to the very end, which is difficult with Reddit's comment thread system.

For the really lazy.
