I... Can't tell what's going on there.

74

u/Sonderkugel Aug 31 '15

A giraffe is sneezing.

11

u/IrrelevantLeprechaun Aug 31 '15

I mean in relation to what the birds are doing.

38

u/Hibs Aug 31 '15

Most likely came from atop its head / neck with the other 2, and in the sneeze process they were dislodged

17

u/Oriolus84 Aug 31 '15

And if he's wondering why there were birds on a giraffe's head, they are oxpeckers - they feed on parasites that live on large mammals.

10

u/Rawckfist Aug 31 '15

This is where I would normally say "Wanna see my oxpecker?" in a suggestive way.

11

u/Anowtakenname Aug 31 '15

live on large mammals

Could a rowboat support you?

4

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

But this time you decided to hold back?

4

u/MyWholeTeamsDead Aug 31 '15

To me it seems like they're taking evasive action from the sneeze.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

Everyone was drinking water together peacefully when the giraffe spazzed out and sneezed.

Stupid long horses. Scaring everybody at the watering hole..

0

u/jethronu11 Aug 31 '15

Stupid tall goats

FTFY

1

u/RogerSmith123456 Aug 31 '15

The birds were likely in the water and were startled by the sudden 'rain shower'. You can see where the first sneeze droplets hit the surface of the little pond, that's likely where the birds were.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

Flying, as birds do.

1

u/Nowin Aug 31 '15

Looks like it's spitting. Do they spit?

7

u/CrackerJackBunny Aug 31 '15

Here's a sequence of the giraffe sneezing.

u/eyelikethings Aug 31 '15

Apparently "In fact despite appearances the giraffe is not sneezing. When giraffes drink, they always yank their head backwards when they rear back up and you can get nice pics of dribble."

-2

u/Opservant Aug 31 '15

That's not the original either...

35

u/Navi_Here Aug 31 '15

Well that didn't take long to end up in /r/pics . Off to buzzfeed next!

7

u/experts_never_lie Aug 31 '15

I was thinking there might be something suspicious about seeing two photos on reddit just today of giraffes sneezing on birds — and the birds were in different positions, but the giraffe didn't move, which just added more mysteries to the animal world.

5

u/smell_it Aug 31 '15

This is great, I read in the comments yesterday how believable the photo is and how long would it be before the Internet believed it

3

u/Navacoy Aug 31 '15

Shh you're not supposed to tell

1

u/Colt4587 Aug 31 '15

It's even funnier, because in the original photoshop battle thread, they predicted that this was going to be passed around as "real."

1

u/MetaMythical Aug 31 '15

Somehow knew this was going to happen once someone made the comment that it looked like the original

-156

u/cocoa647 Aug 31 '15

ty, I just remembered to do that.

9

u/QuasarsRcool Aug 31 '15

To do what?

23

u/Palin_Sees_Russia Aug 31 '15

Think he meant to comment the original source. Probably BS'ing though.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

cool username

1

u/Palin_Sees_Russia Aug 31 '15

Thanks man. :)

I saw the original post this morning, not surprised to see this shop on my mobile feed just a few hours later sadly. Suddenly I feel like I'm on here too much

6

u/joepamps Aug 31 '15

It kinda feels good though to be in the loop

1

u/DaveThe_blank_ Sep 01 '15

well it is kinda the same website and all... but no really I fell for it. Thank you good commenters!

41

u/lost_in_thesauce Aug 31 '15

Come on OP, you knew damn well what you were doing when you posted this. I try not to complain much about /r/pics, but when people put so little effort into knowingly posting fake pictures it's a little irritating.

32

u/s3w4g3 Aug 31 '15

Hey this looks familiar... lol. First time my work made it to /r/pics :D

32

u/cam0l Aug 31 '15

Is the misleading title because the giraffe isn't flying?

I do it all for the karma. Shhh.

3

u/jayzus9 Aug 31 '15

I hope this is the same person that said they were going to post it to try and get on the front page. Good job.

2

u/dicks4dinner Aug 31 '15

Literally like a Pokemon battle.

0

u/LLLLLink Sep 01 '15

Girafarig uses..... String Shot?

2

u/PM_YER_BOOTY Aug 31 '15

"Hey look, a bir....hur...HUR...HURRAAAPPHHHAGGGGHHH!!"

2

u/lejefferson Aug 31 '15

Squirttle used water gun! Pidgeot lost 15 hp!

4

u/rendlett Aug 31 '15

can't say I've ever seen a picture of a sneezing giraffe before...

4

u/drunquasted Aug 31 '15

He's just havin' a lark

-2

u/ShinjoB Aug 31 '15

Robin him of his last breath.

2

u/USMCsoldier96 Aug 31 '15

"FUS RO DAH"!!!

2

u/DebStitcher Aug 31 '15

I was sneezed on by a giraffe at the fair once. Never get too close to giraffes, and never walk under the ferris wheel. I learned that one the hard way too.

1

u/imalittletipsy Aug 31 '15

That's how we got African bird flu... Asian bird flu started the same way but with a panda or possibly a peek-ah-choo.

1

u/djmammo Aug 31 '15

It's how they trap and eat birds.

1

u/TheRedFrog Aug 31 '15

Don't worry it's just allergies

1

u/Mojeaux18 Aug 31 '15

It would've been better as a Michael Bay Gif. Request?!

1

u/NeeKB Aug 31 '15

Clearly a giraffe is a really large animal but that being said..... That is an impressive amount of snot!

1

u/TheStonedHat Aug 31 '15

First tortoises were hunting birds now giraffes? The world is no longer safe for birds

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

I thought the misleading title was that the Giraffe was flying and sneezed on a bird.

1

u/ClandestineMovah Aug 31 '15

OP, did you know that gullible is the only word you can't find in the English dictionary?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

Giraffes can't fly

1

u/Loopus1620 Aug 31 '15

You have to at least wait until the photoshop battle origin of this pic is off the front page.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

What are the odds of that happening, let alone, for it to be a photographer there, and with the right timing and setting to get the shot.... I'm calling bullshit on this.

1

u/thenoof Aug 31 '15

Bird-flu? Giraffe-flu? All I know is, we're doomed. DOOMED, I SAY!

1

u/dilepton Aug 31 '15

tis a good shoop

1

u/DangerMacAwesome Aug 31 '15

Before this I was unaware giraffes could sneeze.

1

u/oceanstrength Aug 31 '15

animals really need to evolve.

1

u/kn_ Aug 31 '15

And this is how birds get high, its called getting sneezy. All the cool fledglings are doing it.

1

u/Heliocentrist Aug 31 '15

I thought he sneezed off his mustache

1

u/All_About_Apes Aug 31 '15

I wish it was real. I like to imagine a photographer who waited years in the Sahara for his big break.

1

u/beebeereebozo Aug 31 '15

Accident? Sure, say you're sorry, I still don't believe you.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

FINISH HIM

1

u/aatencio91 Aug 31 '15

Girafarig used SPIT on Pidgey!

1

Damn I could fill a cup with that and drink it.... for research

1

u/leopoldhendricks Sep 01 '15

oh no poor birdy, I feel so bad for laughing 😂

1

u/RockItGuyDC Aug 31 '15

Huh, TIL that a sneezing giraffe looks exactly like I would expect a sneezing giraffe to look.

0

u/REDDIT-IS-TRP Aug 31 '15

giraffe used sneeze.. it was super effective

-2

u/usuckballs Aug 31 '15

I really wanted this to be real!

0

Stupid long horse

-6

u/kiwigama Aug 31 '15

I wonder what's going through that birds mind?

21

u/TheDewyDecimal Aug 31 '15

Nothing because this is photoshopped

-1

u/someauthor Aug 31 '15

I wonder what's going through that birds giraffe's mind?

He was thinking of a bird; he sneezed it out.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '15

Are you sure its sneezing and not projectile vomiting? Either way, hilarious.

0

u/abc1982 Aug 31 '15

Now that's thuglife

-2

u/Radicalast Aug 31 '15

Giraffe OP. Pls nerf.

-3
