He at least understands what a painting is, so it doesnt really matter if you know who pollock is, the joke is able to be inferred.

Exactly. I've heard the name before but I didn't know that he was one of those splash-shit-anywhere artists until that joke implied as much.

Pollock was/is an incredibly famous painter. I remember learning about him in elementary school and seeing his work at trips to the museum.

Pushes nerd glasses up As I had assumed it, the other species seemed to have a fairly common knowlege of Terra and the inhabitants, and it's in habitants. I mean they got Quill another antique cassette player for his ship, from where exactly, Sharper Image? So it made more sense that Earthlings are purposely left out of the intergalactic loop.
