Weekly Battle | Closed Battle #390 "Mushroom" via previous winner, jkrebs04

Previous Winner

This week's image was chosen by /u/jkrebs04, the winner in Battle 389:

Stock image: Blank Book

Winning entry: Finger

The stock image for Battle #390 is... Mushroom

Prizes

The winner of this weeks battle will:

The Rules

  • Submit your entry as a comment to this thread.

You can post as many as you want.

  • To vote for an entry, just upvote the users comment.

You can vote for as many different entries as you want, but please do not downvote. Downvotes will not be counted when deciding winners.

  • Every entrant gets a contributor flair.

These will be handed out by a bot, but due to our comment hiding system, sometimes it misses people. If you entered but didn't get one, just send the mods a message, and we'll fix you up.

  • Winners can enter Weeklies for which they have submitted the stock image, but they will not be eligible to win.

  • Please be sure to tag NSFW entries appropriately.

If you see anything inappropriate that's not tagged, either report the comment or send a message to the moderators.

The Schedule

  • All entries will be hidden for the first 48 hours.

  • Voting will open on Tuesday, after which all entries will be visible.

Contest mode will be enabled for another 24 hours. This will sort comments randomly, obscure vote counts, and automatically minimize child comments.

  • Contest mode will be disabled on Wednesday.

From there on out, each comment's vote total will be visible, and entries can be sorted by karma (just like any other Reddit thread).

  • The Battle will end on Saturday, February 1st.

Next week's battle will be posted early Sunday morning.

Best of luck, everyone, and have fun!!

Looks awesome mate, great work on the lighting and making it all look like a drawing/painting.

2

u/Mondmatros Jan 29 '20

Thank you Maymay!! Feelin honored to get feedback from you! ...-even if I think it's not deserved, because it was my first time using photoshop (until now I only worked on gimp 2.8) and there is still soooo much to learn..

Btw: Thank you all for inspiring me to get better! :)

In this photo, lumberjacks of the early 20th century. But what did the photographer not show us?
Just yesterday, in one of the archives, an imagewas found shedding light on those old events.

2

u/texasfld57 Jan 29 '20

I really like this! you used your imagination on this one, great job with your story!

2

u/unit-ps Jan 29 '20

this is not a story, it really happened. and we did it. Tomorrow they will ask the schoolboy about mushrooms and he will tell about this story.

The mushroom made me think of a Pickelhaube helmet, so I made a portrait of Otto von Bismarck completely out of elements of the mushroom picture (except for the firefly button and the whites of Bismarck's eyes). The skin is made from an expanded section of the mushroom stem at various levels of lightness and darkness. Even the epaulettes are braided out of mushroom.

I really like the perspective added with the extra mushrooms. Looks great.

1

u/neigesdantan Feb 04 '20

Thanks! I tried to reverse the perspective with farther trees getting larger to suggest the idea of altered perception.

u/TWI2T3D Feb 02 '20

Do you mean, can you choose which image to use?

That honour goes to the winner of this battle.
