Questions/Advice For the people who have adhd and are successful… how do you find motivation/energy for change?
as someone who recognizes that i have a million flaws and that change is crucial, i can never find the motivation or energy to do so. whenever i do find the motivation, i usually can’t stay consistent. i try to create a mindset for myself but putting in the mental energy completely drains me, causing my consistency to drop. for example: i recognize that i need to go to the gym or change my habits at some point in life before it becomes too late and affects later on. i usually tell myself that ill take action at some point, but i always procrastinate. even the thought of ‘change’ makes me feel like i want to breakdown and shutdown despite me wanting to change. it doesn’t make sense. i don’t have enough mental energy to begin with, and the fact that i overthink every little thing a lot makes the whole process of change slower and harder.

Motivation is not it.
Motivation comes after one starts.
Energy is physical (or anger).
.
Create sustainable systems, one tiny boring bit at a time.
Get treatment for trauma related / CPTSD symptoms because those will derail your progress

Ideology. I need to be better to do better. Don't beat yourself down for inconsistencies. You noticed you stopped, just start again. If you don't notice then it wasn't that important. Brute force and merciless repetition. Don't loathe what you delusionally thought you could be right now. If I could just xy then I wouldn't need to yz all the time. Adapt differently, experiment, and fail. Fail hard and fail a lot. Get so good at failing, that you don't care about the awkward feelings any more and are fully able to learn from the mistakes. Every situation has its teaching, you just need to be aware. Sometimes the teaching of a situation is, that you should avoid situations like that altogether. Wishing you strength and luck, you don't need to keep it up, you just have to stop feeling bad for not keeping it up.
