People sitting in their cars on trailheads

I like to go walking/hiking on the trails just outside of the city, for example 333 that goes up to the La Luz trail. There some nice like turnoffs before you get to the actual La Luz and most of them have some of small trail system. Most of the time I go, there’s someone sitting in their cars staring at their phone, usually a younger person, and they’re often there when I get back. I’m not really here to judge, but does anyone know any reason some people do this? “Minding their own business” is not a real answer. I generally don’t care what people do but if this is some way of waiting for some schmuck like me to leave their car for a hike and try to grab my s**t, it very much is my business. I’m thinking one reason could be that they’re not in a great living situation and just want some privacy, and I can dig that.

Providing in-person tutoring for elementary & middle school kids

Hi everyone!!

I’m offering in-person tutoring for elementary and middle school students who need a little extra help with math, science, or other subjects.

I have a Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering and a Master’s in Management Information Systems. I work as a data analyst but one of my passions is teaching kids. I love watching their face light up when they grasp a challenging concept, and it brings me so much joy to watch their confidence grow. I have worked with kids one on one for several years and really found out that I enjoy helping them build their confidence and also have fun studying.

My approach to teaching kids is to create a safe environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and don’t feel any pressure. I know there’s a lot of online teaching platforms but I feel like nothing beats that personal connection and attention received by one of one tutoring.

I’m based in Albuquerque and available for sessions at your convenience. Feel free to message me if you’re interested or have any questions!

Thanks for reading, and I hope to connect with some of you soon!

What's the deal? Isn't it just like a World Market? I drove past a huge ass line this morning. Is it really worth freezing your ass off for? Serious question.

We are seeing what could be very difficult financial times for ourselves or our fellows, or both, in the coming months.

What will you do to support your Burqueño family if you see suffering? My work is in healthcare. So, I’ll be helping where I’m asked at no fee.

Not virtue signaling, but trying to get our community thinking with some forethought and mindfulness.

Where are the black people hanging out?

I'm a Black, female grad student here in ABQ looking for recommendations for places where other Black people hang out/frequent. I do realize we're a small percentage of the population here, but I need to make some connections with people who look like me. Whether it’s coffee shops, brunch spots, cultural events, hair salons, churches, or community groups—I'd really appreciate any suggestions. Just trying to find my people and build community while I’m here. Thanks in advance! 🤎✊🏾

Question Low-cost vet for neautering?

Looking for a low cost vet to neuter, a dog that we recently adopted from a family member that passed away. He's a small Chihuahua so I know that's automatically cheaper, but we're moving soon and I need to get it done quickish.

Question Belly dance in abq?

Hello, does anybody have a recommendation for a Belly dance studio or regularly reoccurring class?

I'm able to find a few studios, but I'm not sure which is right for me. Looking for something long term and not just something that last a few weeks.

Good news al-Buquerque whacks al-Qassam (Hamas) terrorists network

FBI Albuquerque identified a terrorist financing network soliciting donations to the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing. Hamas, a designated terrorist organization, is responsible for the death of many U.S. citizens.

The Justice Department announced the disruption of an ongoing terrorist financing scheme through the seizure of cryptocurrency held in wallets and accounts intended to benefit Hamas. The seized funds were traced from Hamas fundraising addresses that were used to launder more than $1.5 million in virtual currency since October 2024.

Local Business Barkada's ABQ (Filipino food) now in the Cottonwood Mall food court

Barkada's ABQ recently opened a storefront in the Cottonwood Mall food court upper level. They are open at that location Tuesdays thru Thursdays from noon to 7pm. At other times they are at other locations/events listed on their website. There's also third-party delivery available. They can do catering with a two-day lead time.

This is an update from my earlier post.

Reminder- Locations and Times for Saturday 4/5

If you plan to join a peaceful gathering to express your political opinion this Saturday, you have location and time choices. You can go to Santa Fe at noon at the state capitol building, or Albuquerque at 2:00 at Civic Plaza (the later time is to avoid overlap with another event in the city). There are also several other locations around the state. You can check the Hands Off map for details.

Alcohol recovery groups that aren't SMART or AA?

I have a loved one that will not be able to attend SMART meetings anymore. We're looking for an in-person meeting that is not AA (doesn't work for my loved one). All suggestions including religious ones are welcome as long as they're in-person.
