Hey man, I’m really big, my knees and back hurt, and I just need to stretch out. I know we’re not actually going anywhere for a few minutes.

Much more acceptable than crowding the gate when they're boarding group 2 and you're in group 6.

Amazing how my heart wants OP’s job but my head knows that is some truly back-breaking work.

I have this kind of job, and I can 100% confirm both..
I care for about 20 senior farm animals and am living my dream rn, but I have never had such intense back pain in my nearly 20 yrs of working with animals as I do now.

I rather choose that over mind-breaking and soul-crushing.

I’d shovel sheep poo over my day job any time. Being outside, fresh air (sans poop), physical exercise, playing with the silly barn animals - chickens telling me all the barn gossip, the geese telling me none of the gossip is true. “Larry is kinda a dick, but he’s a good husband and does a great job protecting his babies. Loretta is not going bald, stop spreading the lies,”

I used to work at PetSmart. If you wanna see animals all day, that’s a good place to work.

That's quite the ark you have there.
Were you just running them around to the back door and back through again? /s

Okay am I crazy but does almost every single donkey have the exact same mark inside its front right leg kind of up high? A couple of the fuzzies you couldn't really see but all the others have the same mark in the same place..

It's a calloused bit of skin called a "chestnut." Other equines have them as well

Ahh, the Caen Hill rush hour! Haven’t seen this since I dumped Twitter. Glad to see they’re still at it.

I still remember when they came back from a long trip and his favourite goose expressed how MUCH has been missing him.

Do they all live in there together. How do you get them all rounded up. This is great. ❤️👍

u/lgastako 19d ago
Yeah, I was wondering about that... you usually don't see a big heterogenous pile of animals all in one big barn together.

This is at Caen Hill Farm in the UK. They are an animal sanctuary and usually post every day on Twitter. They call it “Rush Hour” when all of their animals come out of the barn each morning.
The animals all get along fairly well and know where they’re supposed to go on the farm during the day and at night. Check them out if you get a chance!

I'm gonna' guess letting them out is a bunch easier than putting them in.

I recognize this place from social media. It’s the Caenhill Countryside Centre. They also have emus and pigs.

How big is that barn?
I like the geese with feathers stuck to their beaks and the donkey with stuff hanging from his chin. What a cute, scruffy bunch!
The one little lamb was a bit rude too - stopping in the doorway before hitching a ride out on the other lambs back. 😏
