Even if the horse has on just a halter and no bit, a well trained horse will follow a gentle lead.

Horses are 800+ lbs. A 10 lbs dog or even a 150 lb human can’t get them to do anything the horse doesn’t want to do.

When I was young, we had a couple horses and never liked the mouth bit that many trainers used. We had a different piece of gear that fit around the nose of the animal and turned it's head that way.

Besides if a horse doesn't want to do something, it won't. Regardless of whether it has a bit on or not.
