Philosophy You should act on your principles when you have ample ability to do so.

Oh, just me, making products that conflict with almost every level of my moral fiber because it's the best paying job I can find and I'm very good at it.
Cognitive dissonance ahoy!

In this moment in history switching jobs is safe for maybe 3% of the population.

only follow principles when safe and easy

Telling someone yo go starve for "anticonsumption" reasons is as privileged as you can get. Just the fact that you don't have to think of job switching as "risk of starvation" tells me enough about your privilege.

I went and picked up trash today. Killed some time and made me feel good. I wasnt in a great mood so I took my frustrations out on all the hypothetical litterbugs.

Not me remembering when I was a child and thinking this was just how everyone acted.

Yep. Not everyone can afford to just get rid of their Tesla....but I can. And did the other week.

Did you get rid of it and buy a new car?

Yep.

In terms of anticonsumption, it’s ideal to use what you already have whenever possible instead of adding to the demand of new products. A new car has a massive carbon and mining footprint

Someone else will buy and use it. They get a discount on a car and I get out of a car where I'm concerned about future support.

I mean that's not really acting on your principles that's just... I don't know it seems really weak to me.
It's like saying you should be kind when someone else is looking.

Principles are worth nothing if they can be dropped at a moment’s notice due to inconvenience.

Arguing my opinion isn’t an option in an “at will employment state” where they can just fire you for no reason anytime they want. Our system keeps us in a constant state of survival so we cannot act on our principals, I sincerely believe the entire system is rigged to keep us working too hard to fight for anything. Food and healthcare for my family are priority, you can’t have those without two jobs and a submissive mentality.

This is why I rather do volunteer work at my "forest house", which is a family gathering in the forest that heavily promotes nature/climate friendly education in a playful and fun way, while I live on social income, than get a paying job that I cannot agree with.

Waiting on principals when you have ample ability to do so.
Isn't having principals at all.
Principles are consistent not compromised by inconvenience
