The island had a tariff of 90% or smith like that on the US. He applied reciprocal tariffs so the island got an increase in tariffs. The idea is to make those countries lower their taxes on the US. Example is Vietnam who had 70+% taxes on the US and after they got taxed back, now they want to negotiate to the US to drop the import tariffs to 0. This will make Vietnam a very attractive market for the US industry, thus will move the factories from china to Vietnam. Ofc in the meantime everybody will have to suffer, because bureaucracy

Okay, so there is actually pretty good evidence that whoever came up with the formula for deciding the amount for the tariffs actually just asked a chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok) something along the lines of “What’s an easy way to calculate tariffs to reduce trade deficits to zero”.
In fact, interestingly enough, when people asked Grok that question it ended up spitting out a formula (“X Country Trade Deficit with U.S. divided by X Country Total Exports to U.S.” and then divide all of that by 2) that gives pretty much the same results as the tariffs the Trump Administration went with.
So if they went with an LLM (Large Language Model) AI like Grok in order to get their tariff formula, what else might they have also asked Grok for?
Here’s my particular theory:
If I were to be doing something like this for a school assignment, I’d probably want a list of really small or relatively unknown countries/territories that I could then throw into my list of tariffs in order to make it look like I actually put a lot of time and effort into things.
So, to answer the question of “Why did they choose some of these countries?”
It’s probably due to people in the Trump admin trying to use an “AI” to help make big decisions because actual experts would have told them it was really stupid.
Also, if you can show that you have an AI that is capable of making complicated international decisions, then you can further justify shredding various government departments since they could be cheaply replaced by something like ChatGPT.
I’m also pretty sure that it was Musk who suggested using Grok, especially since he can charge huge fees to the U.S. government if they use it.

Do you know how little a ceasefire is, especially when it has something to do with Russia? I've been watching the war in Ukraine since it started back up again in the early 2020s, and I've seen plenty of ceasefires, and all of them resulted in Russia breaking the ceasefire illegally, and even if they respected the ceasefire, the bare minimum of what Russia wants is too much for Ukraine, because if Russia isn't beaten, that means that they can try again in the future, just like how Russia attacked Ukraine in 2014, stopped fighting, only to start fighting again in the early 2020s. The best thing for all of us is to support Ukraine in order to ward off authoritarian dictators from attacking other countries around them, but Trump is enabling Russia to attack Ukraine by not sending equipment to them.
Trump has also sent people of Venezuelan decent, illegal or not over to a Venezuelan prison that's known for torture and other inhumane practices without a trial, meaning that these people were suddenly arrested and taken away just for being of different decent, just like the Nazis to the Jews in WW2. The order to send these people away was blocked by the courts but was ignored by Trump, who continued to send people away despite the courts' interference, which is what a dictator does, because that's what Trump clearly wants to be. He's taking away American freedoms and crashing the American economy against the well-being of the people because he wants to take away everyone's power to ensure that he remains on top, and for a country that prides itself for their freedom, its sad to see it going this way. Trump aspires to be a dictator, and if you can't see that, then you shouldn't have the right to vote or even talk about politics unless you intend to learn and think for yourself about what the choices leaders make really does for you, those around you, and the leaders in question.
