That's terrible. Being taken from your family is extremely traumatic. Extremely. They should help that family get housing, not rip the kids from everyone they know and love.
Have you ever been ripped from your parents and siblings and put in foster care? No. Well, I have. Foster care is one of the deepest traumas of my life and shouldn't be advised flippantly like you've just done.
Think about what's best for the kids. Because what you've said is definitely not what's best for the kids. Supporting that family and helping them get back on their feet is what's best for the kids.
that is a failure of a nation. in a country so rich even the lowest on the ladder should have all the basics met. being down and out should not equal homeless and starving and in the cold
It's not just in america. That happens recently in most countries. I live in europe, it happens here too. You can have a job and have nowhere to live, or even not able to rent. Food prices are 70% higher than few years ago, wages didn't increase that fast. A huge income inequality also make it worse.
And a big part of that is russia, that makes wars and a lot of money from world goes so protect Ukraine.
Lithuania. But heard on the news in most europe too?? Of course some jobs are well paid like IT specialists, doctors, directors, but most not. Young people live with their parents till 25-30 and have to work while studying.
I can say it's not quite like this in Germany - but things are unstable at the moment for sure! Lithuania must be tough, with Russia going wild nearby. I'd love to read more about what's going on in Lithuania, maybe plan a vacation to do my part to bring some money in. If you have any advice I'd be glad for it.
Well we have a lot of problems actually 😄 safety, really low birth rate, immigrants.
But tourists see different view. There are really nice places in Vilnius, Trakai, Nida. At the moment we have Viljius light festival (you can google images, it's kind of cool). So you are welcome, but keep in mind we have high prices, like you will pay like 5euros just for coffee in most coffee shops 😁
By the way, you can meet a lot of german soldiers there! We are really appreaciate they came 😊 we feel a little bit safer now.
You may also have many other students that are living with friends or family, most students that fall under Mckinney-Vento are doubled up, almost as an invisible problem/need.

I'm a school bus driver and I pick up children from the shelter and it's changed my view on everything in life 😭
