Nature I thought this was a tsunami. But it’s just clouds! Nature just amazes me and scares me as well.

first time I’ve seen it

1

u/_JesusIsGod_ 1d ago

Oh you'll see it again. When you least expect it you'll see it again

2

u/firedmyass 1d ago

I’m braced for the inevitable assault

7

u/Particular_Archer499 2d ago

I would legitimately shit myself if I saw that.

6

u/FlowSoSlow 2d ago

Imagine waking up 5000 years ago (or whatever, idk when we figured out shit about the atmosphere lol) and seeing this.

3

u/OneSensiblePerson 2d ago

It's bad enough seeing it in 2025. In a video on Reddit.

Damn nature, you scary!

52

u/TommyOnRedditt 2d ago

Something feels so off about this place.

67

u/yepyepyeeeup 2d ago

North American suburbs always give me such an eery feeling. Looks like it's rendered on a computer from the late 90s; everything looks so unnatural. The architecture, the distance between the houses, the symmetrical placement of the trees, the lack of... idek, life? Everything looks so lifeless, it's creepy as heck

17

u/Hatswithcats7 1d ago

There's actually a horror/sci-fi movie from 2019 called Vivarium that plays in on this feeling.

5

u/beebopnaa 1d ago

Literally the first thing i thought of despite only watching and remembering the trailer

2

u/twentyonerooms 1d ago

They really nailed the uncanny/disturbing atmosphere in that movie

3

u/Soapyfreshfingers 1d ago

Colorado Springs? 👀

24

u/fireflychef 2d ago

You sure there's no mothership hiding behind those clouds?

28

u/WatashiwaNobodyDesu 2d ago

I may be a grownup but I swear to God if I see that and someone blasts a deep, loud foghorn at the same time, I will not be responsible for what I do next. No pants left unshat, no child left untrampled.

14

u/Ysiriff 2d ago

Tune in next week to The Shat and Trampled

9

u/Skydus36 2d ago

This would be a bad day to get high

11

u/SquidsFromTheMoon 2d ago

Those aren't mountains. Those are waves. Iykyk.

21

u/NicadenNceya 2d ago

This is an optical illusion caused by the thinning of the clouds between layers, allowing daylight to shine through. Because the shelf cloud is thicker and contains more moisture, it actually stands out against the illuminated background.

u/bodhiseppuku 2d ago

I thought I saw a Tsunami this morning.... it turned out to be clouds.

Where do you live?

Ohio, why?

That would be a world ending tsunami that makes it to Ohio.

5

u/bodhiseppuku 2d ago

... and if there were a tsunami that was hundreds of feet high, it would be interesting to see how my people would run.

Where are you going to go? There is no chance of survival. You might as well take the next several seconds to pray, even if you're not a believer... just in case, ya know?

u/averecta 1d ago

TSSUUUUUUNAHMAAAAAAYY

5

u/Chickensquit 2d ago

Wow. That is the most terrifying non-tsunami cloud formation, straight from a nightmare. The pattern to the right doesn’t look much safer? What is your general location, OP?

2

u/SalmonSammySamSam 2d ago

Yo those are moving fast o.o

2

u/Different-Baker-2552 2d ago

2

POV: You live in Atlantis.

1

Why does that neighbourhood look like the "unedited footage of a bear" neighbourhood? 🫣

1

u/InternalComb1688 2d ago

The video was taken in Cincinnati Ohio a few years ago. I live there and remember this video going viral like 2 or 3 years back because I was excited my city was getting viral attention

1

u/ur_daddy_corey 2d ago

Reminds me of the movie Deep Impact

1

u/KimmyBax 1d ago

I saw clouds like this when I lived in Virginia. They come off the mountains weird.

1

u/TheGOODSh-tCo 1d ago

I’ve seen that coming over the bridge in SF and almost shit my pants. Totally looks like a giant wave.

1

u/Maleficent-Ask8450 1d ago

Where the heck is that I’ve never seen anything like it

1

u/moonmonologue 1d ago

So siiickkk

1

u/comfysynth 1d ago

We are nature lol and more complex then this.

1

u/RhizoMyco 1d ago

Now imagine being at 7th-8th century person and seeing this.

1

u/Guyappino 1d ago

Major cold front approaching. This is known as a squall line. As a pilot, you stay far away from those.

1

u/Danimus-Prime 1d ago

I guess clouds really can look like anything.

And don't you f**king date bring up that this is a repost! I didn't know when I first saw this and I wanted to make a comment about it! Deal with it!

1

u/t13ag 1d ago

Looks fake to me, not the “cloud” but the houses and car

1

u/Ickythumpin 1d ago

Looks like the 2012 movie wave

1

u/etnguylkng 1d ago

This would make for a perfect scene in Poltergeist!

1

u/groene_dreack 1d ago

Its just a shelf cloud, quite rare and impressive to look at but not very dangerous or anything.

1

u/cloudsareedible 1d ago

this looks like the loveliest neighborhood ever

1

u/Donmeister85 1d ago

I see Gargantua is up to her usual tricks.

1

u/physicist27 1d ago

It took me so long to make out that they’re clouds even though the title specifically says so-

1

u/KingPeverell 1d ago

Where is this located? That's a rather picturesque neighbourhood.

1

u/Big-Needleworker9877 1d ago

He thought and then posted, then the wave got him. Rip 🌹

1

u/Ok-Pomegranate858 1d ago

Wow. I'd have definitely needed a change of undies if I saw that in real life and it was roaring like a tsunami...

1

u/Embarrassed_Box4349 1d ago

That’s insane!!!

1

u/Lilje1 1d ago

It looks absolutely breathtaking and scary at the same time.

1

u/LtPaiMei 1d ago

Whats that movie? Matthew was in it? Reminds me of that scene...

1

u/Tight-Perception-430 1d ago

That truly is amazing. It’s a beautiful picture.

1

u/jackiebee66 1d ago

It is so creepy when I see this! You honestly cannot tell whether irs clouds or something else!

1

u/cloudstrife1191 1d ago

Where is this?

1

u/mentallydoomed 1d ago

Where is this?

1

u/thericheproject 1d ago

Man, hell nah! I’ve seen way too many alien horror flicks to be caught standing outside just staring at some weird-ass cloud formation—next thing you know, that shit’s pulling you up into it or a damn spaceship starts firing laser beams. I’m good!

1

u/commorancy0 1d ago

That is a rolling wall cloud. Fairly rare. Usually indicates a storm front rolling in. Seen it only once and the storm behind it was quite intense.

1

u/Sconnie123 1d ago

Someone answer that kid!

1

u/Native_Dave_24 1d ago

Wow that’s a trip!

1

u/SolidusBruh 1d ago

The Mist flashbacks would have me running

1

u/Kalm_Khaos 1d ago

That would honestly be terrifying to see coming towards you.

1

u/xeroid051 1d ago

That looks like a real bad storm heading your way..

1

u/zippy251 20h ago

That there is a particularly wet front

1

u/the_tygram 16h ago

Isn't this how that movie "The Mist" started?....

1

u/thunderc8 2d ago

Did I see a dog barking at a bird at 0:02 at the clouds or am i tripping?

1

u/WakefulJaxZero 2d ago

1

u/Longjumping-Mud5194 2d ago

1

u/Rockalot_L 2d ago

Imagine the devestation waves that big would cause

1

u/pyschosoul 2d ago

Yeah safe to say those people should have been going to the basement, that's a nasty looking storm

1

u/Hezelxx 2d ago

A tsunami of clouds it is

1

u/ZealousidealBread948 2d ago

If it were a tsunami, the only escape route would be a submarine in your garage or a large drone with seats

0

u/Zinakoleg 2d ago

That's Sinh.
