Well, some creatures are definitely more...adventurous in their tastes. Maybe it's just a connoisseur of all sorts of scents. Or maybe it's just really laid-back and doesn't let little things like that bother it

9

u/CosmeticBrainSurgery 8h ago

If you'd ever had a cat that liked to follow you into the bathroom and stare at you while you crapped, it would make sense. Maybe. Or maybe not

I'm confident that's a well-fed lion that gradually came to like humans and the pets they give and that the driver told everyone that she would likely do this. That said I'd still crap myself.

59

Yeah fudge this, my little orange cat will start out rubbing against me like this, then he'll get a little too happy and start clawing the shit out of me, I don't even wanna know what a single claw from this big cat feels like, I'd be scared shitless if i was on this ride

21

u/oregonchick 8h ago

Overstimulation is a real problem among predators, whether they fit in your arms or can bite off your arms. Happy pets and cuddles at first, then pupils are dilating the whole body gets twitchy and ready to hunt and kill. Instinct is a crazy thing!

8

u/bigSTUdazz 8h ago

"Fudge"

.....you are FAR too innocent for the cesspool that is Reddit.

6

u/Automatic-4thepeople 6h ago

Only he didn't say 'fudge'

2

u/Radiant_Ferret_5989 5h ago

I mean I didn't actually say fudge, but I did type fudge. Hey, I'm a lifelong construction worker tho, believe me when I say I cuss enough to make a drunken sailor blush at times.

Whilst this looks absolutely wonderful, we all know this isn’t normal behaviour for a lion and shouldn’t be encouraged. It will only take one incident for that beautiful creature to behave naturally, like a lion should behave and possibly hurt one of the visitors and they’ll end her wont they. Just irresponsible behaviour on the part of the people who run the tours.

13

u/rekkodesu 8h ago

I remember my first time going to the Safari Park up in Escondido and seeing how a lioness there reacted to an old lady with a limp and a cane walking by outside her enclosure. She absolutely just zeroed in with laser focus on that old lady, tracking her and ignoring all us other apes gawking at her. And it made me realize how much these are still wild animals. If it hadn't been for the thick glass wall separating us, she'd have immediately taken down that old woman. That lady was prey to her, even though she's used to seeing humans around.

This sort of thing here absolutely shouldn't exist. It's not an if, it's a when.

8

u/Gothmom85 6h ago

At the zoo with my kiddo, as a toddler. She was fascinated by the tiger. The tiger was just looking at her like a tasty snack.

4

u/DannkneeFrench 5h ago edited 5h ago

This place is in Crimea. If I'm not mistaken it's now closed down.

You're the first one to mention behavior on the part of the people who run the tours.

Good catch. This place has mistreated animals quite a bit. Due to the order I heard the stories, at first I thought that Russia was being dinks in harassing them.

Then I saw the other side of the story. The abuses were many.

It's been awhile since I saw it, so I'm not sure if the sites are even still up. I basically recall that this place had the same feel as Sea World and the suffering of the marine animals- only this was with Lions and a few others instead.

Edit- I tried looking it up. It's Taigon Lion Safari Park. It closed in 2019, but has since been reopened in 2023.

Most of the coverage is positive now. It's looking like it's the same owner. Apparently he's treating the animals better.

From one of the articles: The Taigan has been closed since December 2019 - at first it could not work due to lengthy lawsuits, and then quarantine measures due to coronavirus.

Back to me. Those lengthy lawsuits were legit. The way some of those animals were treated was brutal. It was one of those situations where the public sees all smiles, but behind the scenes the Lions were suffering.

Essentially they had some 60 Lions. The few that liked people were the ones everyone saw. The rest weren't treated so well.

6

u/FutureBoysenberry 8h ago

Yep. Yep yep yepppp. Thanks for educating.

280 lbs of death and she just wants a cuddle. I love lions so much.

Had a giraffe come in a do the same thing looking for the veggies. Just accosting everyone, turning purses upside down.

2

u/_Kelly_A_ 11h ago

And that one time aunt Lois brings her support Pomeranian, it all goes down hill

5

u/Gregorygregory888888 13h ago

Ok, where can one find a petting zoo like this?

8

u/External_Reaction314 12h ago

This place is in Crimea. Think it's run by some Russians. If you search lions and Crimea on yt you should find more videos like this

22

u/pretty_gauche6 12h ago

You can not find an ethical petting zoo like this because this is extremely dangerous and should not be happening.

5

u/Gregorygregory888888 12h ago

I was kind of joking. Looks cute and fun but I imagine it could do a complete 180 real fast.

The sad part about this is they will kill the cat as soon as it hurts someone and accept zero responsibility. Its morbid but I think that to own and operate an establishment like this should mean the owner gets euthanized instead of the animal if it hurts somebody. Maybe then we can start leaving nature the fuck alone.

2

u/cthulhustu 9h ago

They literally are 🤣🤣

Sorry to be that guy, but wild animals will generally not attack humans unless threatened or literally starving. Lion has regular food source, will be familiar with people and is probably a bit of a snuggle bug having discovered how awesome scritches are.

Violence for the sake of it is pretty exclusively a human trait. Having said that, I would still be damn careful given the strength that kitty packs and lack of familiarity with body language and behaviour.

1

1

u/eans-Ba88 9h ago

If I'm allergic to house cats, would I also be allergic to a lion?
I mean, I get all drippy and sneezy, blood shot eyes, and if a kitty scratches me I puff up pretty good.
I can't help but think about the added insult to injury it would be to be bleeding out from a lion scratch and also have to suffer the feeling of my innards being itchy.

1

u/ThatssoBluejay 9h ago

Cat: I'm well fed so what am I missing?

Sees large group of humans

Ok I think this could scratch my itch

1

How about the natural sound? Fkn awful Music on every thing these days. I’d rather hear the peoples reactions.

1

u/Vusstar 9h ago

I love how he just drives off with the lion still inside lol.

1

u/kyel566 9h ago

And when my normal house cat freaks out and bites me it hurts but I’m guessing when this guy does it it ends in death

1

u/hanah5 8h ago

Lions are not just big cats, they’re wild animals. Do not pet wild animals.

I’m amazed at the stupidity here

1

u/No_Appointment3914 8h ago

I’m sorry, this is terrifying.

1

u/Sally4464 8h ago

Hell NO!

1

u/Sally4464 8h ago

House cats will turn on you, I know from experience so there is no way I’m allowing a lion anywhere near me.

1

u/ArtistAmantiLisa 8h ago

I’ve always admired the big cats, but no. This must be a very odd safari park. I wouldn’t be breathing.

1

u/Muted-Caregiver2301 8h ago

And an orange one

1

u/makingkevinbacon 8h ago

One of my sister's cats has one eye so he's a lil jumpy around new people. Combine that with the fact he gives "love nips" when you scratch him a few seconds, if he was like 30 times larger with the same habits, I'm not sure if it would be as ok lol

1

u/DeepakShakur69 8h ago

Yes they are and big cats can fucking kill you pretty easily

1

u/Nice-Range-7653 8h ago

That just means they’re cool until they decide that’s enough of that and go psycho swatting and biting….

1

u/Yajahyaya 8h ago

Yeah. The only difference is they’re big enough to eat you.

1

u/bitronic1 8h ago

Lion: O- nom nom nom nom nom nom yeah...

1

u/btboss123 8h ago

Shes like mm my snack pets me

1

u/CheesyFinster 8h ago

That thing is rubbing its scent on those people so it can find them later lmao trying to catch them lackin

1

u/stopeer 8h ago

Until they decide you are just a big snack.

1

u/pat-slider 8h ago

Domesticated?

1

u/RepresentativeLife16 8h ago

Tourist that doesn’t have cats. I’m going to give you tummy rubs. -dies.

1

u/lawnshowery 8h ago

Yeah and house cats would eat the shit out of us if they could.

1

u/LightFusion 8h ago

My time working at a zoo taught me the females can be friendly and enjoy some let's, but don't even think about doing this in front of a male. I gave a face pat to a female rubbing on the bars of their enclosure and the isolated male next door saw. Man those cats are loud when they get pissed.

1

u/Few-Sky-2366 8h ago

Can confirm - I used to work at a big cat rescue sanctuary. We’d give them cardboard boxes with food inside, and they’d try to sit in the box. They rub their cheeks on everything, and bat their ball around (in their case, either one of those giant balls for horses, or 12 lb bowling ball). One thing big cats can’t do is purr… puma/mountain lion/cougars can though!

1

u/Pootisman16 8h ago

Actually no, they are panthers.

Cheetahs and cougars however ARE big cats.

1

u/went2college 8h ago

What about their claws? Are they cut?

1

u/TheManInTheShack 8h ago

They are just big cats until they are not. Based upon the vehicle and the ease of which the animal entered it, this is a sanctuary where they know the animals are tame and were likely raised there around people. I wouldn’t recommend this in an area where that is not the case.

1

u/Cracktaculus 8h ago

Then, everyone smelled like giant cat piss!

1

u/Own_Kaleidoscope5512 8h ago

Yes…they are big cats

1

u/redditNbluedit 8h ago

Hahhaha, keep telling yourself that they're "just big cats" and one day you will realize what Siegfried and Roy realized.

1

u/buckeye27fan 8h ago

If I'm going to die, I'm going to die petting that big ole kitty.

1

u/kronos91O 8h ago

In cat culture this means " hippity hoppity, you're now my property"

1

u/Edgewise24 8h ago

That went much better than I'd initially thought it was going to.

1

u/Khalith 8h ago

If not friend then why friend shaped?

1

u/calangomerengue 8h ago

Try huge. House cats weight 4kg. A lioness weight 120kg of pure muscle. These people got sore, that's for sure.

1

u/neubstick 7h ago

Nope. I probably sh*t my pants of I was on that trip.

1

u/Slightly_Psychooo 7h ago

He needed to get cuddles from every person

1

u/dancinginspace 7h ago

First thought I had was god that lion is probably crushing whoever it's stepping on. My 80 pound dog is barely manageable when he wants to snuggle.

1

u/idiedin2019 7h ago

Until one day it hurts someone and they gotta shoot it dead.

Could be a purposeful bite, or maybe it’s claws accidentally dig into someone’s thighs.

Either way, this animal will eventually meet a horrible end. But at least some people got to pet it.
