Update: Greg's Grill Party
Recently my wife turned 50 and she is not one to request birthday parties. So for her 50th it was important to me to shower her in love and celebrate her life with the most special people in her life. My hope was to have it at an event space with some good food and drinks that was intimate and also arranged that everyone would feel like they were able to interact with the guests and birthday girl while keeping the budget around $1000 for everything. With a guest list of nearly 50 people this was shaping up to be a challenge. I made a reddit post for suggestions and ultimately it was looking like the cost of decent food would limit locations and access to beverages. We were finding even for the best values in food($30/plate) we were going to struggle to have a bar and seating in our budget. We considered a friends house with a cart rental but seating and tables and the cost of beverages was pushing us significantly over the budget limit. I was ready to cook bbq at moms place and squishing the party in to limited spacing for tables and eating.
About a week after the reddit post I got a DM from a stranger who said they could provide everything we needed in our budget. I was skeptical but responded and the person gave me their private number and said to give them a call. Enter Andre, the GM at Greg’s Grill. He said he has a budget friendly menu for large parties and invited us down to the restaurant to meet and discuss the menu and the logistics. We met up with Andre and it turned out that the restaurant was slow after the new year and we were able to pick a really intimate zone in the restaurant that was against the glass looking west through the windows at the mountains and river that also had seating for 50 of us. Andre’s event menu that was specifically set up for events like ours and included ribs, a burger, a chicken sando, fish and chips and a pasta dish. The price per plate was $25. We excitedly said yes we’d love to have them host and the pressure was off. The night of the party, the staff were so kind and welcoming. We had access to the bar, a server for the party and an amazing menu that was printed out and personalized with my wife’s name. the night was amazing, they let us bring in dessert, the service was spectacular, and they nailed it! It was more than I could have ever hoped for. The guests had their choice of the 5 items on the menu and they covered their own drink bills. We had some dessert and even the staff came out to sing the birthday song including the cooks from the open kitchen. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to Andre for his and his restaurants support in celebrating my wife on her 50th birthday. If you are even considering a party, make sure to stop in to Greg’s Grill and talk to Andre about what they can do for you.

Andre is the coolest and most visible GM for any restaurant in town (that I’ve been too).

I brought my retreat attendees to Greg's for a group dinner, and it was my first time, too! I was really impressed with their great service, good food, prices, and nice views. My only complaint was the AC was blasting and it got chilly. We had a great time!

That’s an amazing deal. Even catered self serve is often more than that per person.

Wow, I'm glad you had such a great experience, because 50 people for $1000 = unicorn. Heck, our party of 5 spent $1000 at Arianas the other night. I've heard some not so great things about Gregs, so I'm glad that wasn't your experience - sounds like you got lucky. Yeah! Happy birthday to your wife.

Andre is the best. I've only talked to him a few times, but he's always wonderful. He deserves all the praise!

Andre is one of the greats. From Sunriver to Bend, every establishment he has worked in was improved by his presence. Greg’s is lucky to have him.

Greg's Grill has had a really bad health inspection prior to the 2024 Holidays, but hopefully they have turned things around. https://inspections.myhealthdepartment.com/or-deschutes-county/inspection/?inspectionID=A2706A1B-9C4E-4824-A620-68DA3D7F0376
