Spoons

Y'all have come through for me in the past with really random requests. Here's another one:

I'm looking to buy maybe 400-500 stainless steel spoons to provide as part of our reusable serviceware program for Earth Day Fair vendors (and possibly other community events!). Two years ago, I went around to all the thrift stores and purchased spoons, but most didn't have many on hand. Putting this out there, in case any current or former food service businesses have extra, before I buy them from Webstaurantstore for $.10/spoon... which honestly isn't bad, but in case we can avoid redundancy.

I bought 100 ss spoons last month at thrift stores, averaging less than 0.25 each. ReGroup & Humane Society thrift mostly. Furnish Hope might hook you up too. I'll text you about getting our spoons

I literally just got home from Humane Society thrift. They have about 15 spoons right now and all are tiiiiny (my fav kind of spoon, but probably not what OP needs)

This isn't what you're looking for but the short version of our story is we have about a 100-150 butter knives you can have if you want them. They're brand new and are nice ones.

Awesome, it will be great to see them getting used! The longer version of the story isn't very interesting, just longer. I live in La Pine but am driving to Bend on Sunday and would be happy to drop them off. I'll send you a message.

And “possibly” future events? It’s not sustainable if you don’t reuse them.

Haha, good flag. I meant definitely our future Earth Day Fair and similar events, but possibly other community events too!

Here's a fun fact from Upstream's Reuse Wins Report. Of course, the more re-uses the better!

They are for the reusables program and will go in kits for people to borrow for free. It's the most sustainable reuse option out there

OP should host a "one bite per spoon" soup event, to promote sustainability.

After each bite the spoon goes in the dirty pile and you get a new one.

I'm not sure how the message of sustainability comes in. Marketing is still working on that.

Call or go to the Restore, they might be able to set them aside for you. They also charge 10 cents or at least used to and it goes to a good cause.

It might be worth a call to Mission Linen. They get loads of silverware tossed in with restaurant linens.

US chef store is the best place for spoons and forks! You can get a package of like 100 or 250 for like $8
