I'm in Wisconsin, and I'm worried about our election tomorrow. I'm worried about a lot of things. I haven't been feeling very hopeful lately, and being laid off for four months now isn't helping. I'm truly and deeply concerned about our country and the world moving forward.

I'm not in Wisconsin, but I understand how you feel. I'm praying that voters have enough sense to do the right thing, but I dunno. As for work, I hope you can find something soon 🙏🏿 🙏🏿

Thank you for the empathy and well wishes

Not a problem. I'm in a somewhat similar position as a probationary federal employee. I'm just waiting for the final notice that my employment has officially been terminated. It's been a crazy horrendous two+ months, and I'm praying like never before that WE get through this.

I'm having an existential crisis after realizing the Will Smith Chris Rock slap happened 3 YEARS AGO already..

I am so goddamn tired of people in other countries (namely first world countries) smugly hating on Americans like we're not descending into a dictatorship.
Empathy so performative. I'm tired of it.
Then 20 years from now they will have vigils for all the dead people their countries turned away the door and cry about human nature like they didn't contribute to this.

I’m in the UK right now for work and bro, it’s like I’m a fucking villain over here. They see the passport, first question, “Hey you from USA?” Second fucking question for the 6th time today “So what the fuck you all doing over there”.

God I can't imagine. Like Americans are some fucking hive mind or some shit.
I've only looked at countries without a stick up their asses that let people immigrate easily, like in South and Africa. I'm probably gonna die here in the wars regardless, but at least it gives me a little hope.
I'd love to support their economies instead.

What pisses me off is people see white Americans and then give that label to ALL of us! As if half the country isn't POC and many of us didn't choose to be in this country

Lots of people are leaving. Especially very educated people.
American Brain-Drain is in progress.

u/strik3r2k8 6d ago
Ya we’re on the shit list. Which sucks because half of us didn’t want this.
I’m pissed because we could have good things but we’re essentially held hostage by the billionaire class.

*33%. We ain’t gonna let those mfs who stayed home get away from that shit

Rich coming from the UK when the US really just followings their footprints. And it's straight xenophobia. People can say whatever they want about Americans and that's ok cause they genuinely don't see us as humans

Been getting increasingly salty at work. I know I'm just upset at shit going on, and knowing for a fact that most of the people I talk to on a daily basis won't really feel affected one way or another until shit really gets bad...I keep forgetting to just grab some time to process and be.

I was scrolling through some comedy reels on YouTube and I watched a few different ones with Shane Gillis and almost every single one seems to be about race. I don’t follow him because I’ve never really seen anything of his that’s funny but man, I can’t help but feel like this guy really likes racial humor a little too much

I watched a bunch of clips from when he recently hosted SNL and it was all so cringe. Every sketch was about race or hetero relationships. Very cringey conservative vibe for me. Just not very… fun. I’m down for edgy humor but he has the energy of a recently divorced dad with an axe to grind?

With all the shit that going on right now BPT pulling a April Fool's Joke like they did last time don't seem right. Kind of "Read the room" type situation.
Wished I can say the same for Reddit and r/Field basically place 2.0 but with none of the stuff that made place great just terrible overall.

That's unfortunate. I'm sorry you don't have a place to squirrel away.

im locked in my room nearly 24/7 they just scream

u/SimonPho3nix 6d ago
That's what I mean. If that sound gets through to where it's noticeable enough to cause you problems...I don't know. I hope there's some kind of compromise that can be agreed on. Maintaining that WFH status is helpful to everyone in the end.

Hey everyone,
I’m an artist currently working on a series inspired by Black history and culture—both in Africa and across the diaspora. My goal is to bring attention to the strength, resilience, and hardships within these narratives through visual art, but I want to approach it with the utmost respect.
I’m very aware of the risks of coming across as exoticizing, performative, or speaking from a top-down lens, and that’s something I want to avoid entirely. I’m reaching out to ask: How can I represent these stories in a way that’s informed, authentic, and respectful—without overstepping or speaking for the community?
P.S: I posted the same question in Black History subreddit and someone told me to show "how my white history negatively affected ours". I understand the sentiment, but I'm from Iran and my ancestors had no part in the oppression inflicted on the black community. I'm just an artist who's willing to express my love, and I know black people don't need any more white people addressing the injustice they faced (and still do) but I'd love it if the community at least gave me a chance.
I’d really appreciate any advice, thoughts, reading suggestions, or feedback. Thanks in advance for your time and energy.
Peace and respect.

Focus on strength without making more trauma porn.
Example: a painting of the side profile of a beautiful black woman , NOT a picture of a sad/broken down black woman or slave.
There’s plenty of media that focuses on the negative aspects of black culture. I for one would like to see art that celebrates our successes, strength, and beauty. Not struggle, hardship, etc.

As a curious bystander why are the most upvoted post in this sub just Twitter Thots and Bots?

Got downvoted to hell on another subreddit cause I said that I too would be pissed if my partner offered me food out of a bowl that a dog had been eating out of, even if it was washed. The whole chain is wild...
