Alex on youtube has made a stylish hidden cabinet as a case for displaying kitchen tools. He asked for suggestions of what to include, and I tried to approach it as someone who likes to bake bread.
i suggested adding a bread lame to his kitchen tool cabinet but my sourdough baking depends on a scale, a towel, a bench scraper, some spoons, a disposable razor blade, a banneton, and a bowl. None of these would look very attractive displayed in his case which brings up a question: can the beauty of home bread making be displayed in a case or is it in the process or the product, not in the equipment. Certainly bread loaves can be beautiful.
I like Alex's videos and I think he did find some beautiful tools to display, but I don't know about the "chef's dream display case" I think I might rather watch the craft than see the tools. Actually, to his credit, I suppose that is what his videos are really about: showing his process.
I'm curious about the parts of baking that people find aesthetically most appealing. Working with dough? Aroma when baking? The look of the finished product?
