[Request] [Request] Super light weight water bottle
I need a water bottle that I can clean with the dishwasher that isn't super freaking heavy. Most of them are very heavy with metal. I tried a nalgene, it's still way too heavy than it needs to be, about 171 grams copmared to a 25 grocery store water bottle. It's for someone with a hand disability.
Thanks

A plastic pouch is about as light as you can get, but they aren't exactly reusable. The water is the heaviest part. You can go with either plastic or aluminum, as neither are heavy. Other than that, you will have to get a smaller volume bottle.

Your numbers sounded a bit ridiculous to me, so I weighed a couple of bottles I have around the house. A 20 ounce / 600ml generic bottle weighs 62 grams. A specialized 24 ounce / 710ml bottle weighs 90 grams. If your bottles weigh 171 grams you're buying the wrong bottles.

It's a Nalgene plastic bottle, I thought it would be lighter

Buy a cycling / sports water bottle. Much lighter. Maybe not as BIFL, but in this case it's a tradeoff.

Is the problem weight or grip strength? Could a bottle with a handle address it?

a water backpack thing, so the user only needs to grip and hold the thin mouth tube. Camelbak and osprey are the fancier brands. I got mine at Target and it's going strong 4 yrs later. I don't use it much. I think the brand is Sierra something

Weight is one thing but dexterity might be at play too. I have a disability that effects my ability to grip items. Tumblers with a handle large enough to fit my 4 fingers have been the easiest to hold without dropping. Or at least when I loose grip the tumbler still stays on my hand long enough for me to grab it with the other hand. They make some that are leakproof too now

Won’t the weight of the water end up being the heaviest part regardless of the material? I wonder if a camelbak would be better suited to take the repetitive lifting away from your hands?
