Weird Noise why won't my car start?

battery was changed less than a year ago. when i got it changed the mechanic said the starter sounded like it would need repair soon. enjoy my defeated sigh at the end.

Either that or an intact head gasket, if it’s not blown the fuel injectors have a tantrum

Multiple, rapid clicking is low/no charge in the battery. One solid click, starter. This changed in newer (5-7 yrs old) models requiring AGM/Gel batteries for stability. It could possibly be a poor connection at the battery positive or a bad ground

I second this. My partners 2012 Outlander Sport shit on them after sitting in the cold winter for too long.. had to jump her a couple times to get her back up and running.
The car coincidentally broke down near an auto zone. Got them to check the battery and replaced with a new one. All good after that.
Seems like you need a new battery aswell. You'll have to jump it an take it to an auto store for a new battery. You'll need them to read the voltage of the battery. To see if that's the root of the issue.

Check battery terminals on battery for connection issue. Might be preventing a solid charge when car was on. Clean it and jump car. Check voltage when running make sure it’s getting over 12 volts.

That is likely a dead battery. It’s trying to send the amps to the starter but there aren’t enough of them to operate the starter.

Battery voltage is to low to start. Did you or your partner left the cabin light on or such?

i left a light on recently and the battery died but i was able to jump and restart it. this was about a month ago

Could be a bad starter that's putting a drain on the battery to the point it's killed the battery.

Battery connection, low voltage. Do you take short drives? Battery is probably not charging enough. You have to take longer drives for a battery to fully recharge after starting.

yes i don't use my car very often i usually take it just across town

That is exactly why! You need to start taking longer drives, or replace your battery every year, or put a trickle charger on it when you’re done driving it for the day!

If not the battery then probably the starter, unless there are other issues with the vehicle you haven’t mentioned
