That's adorable! I wonder if she's deaf.
827
u/IMNOT_A_LAWYER Feb 12 '25
Bingo. She’s either completely deaf or close to it (she reacts to clapping or REALLY loud yelling - may just be the vibrations). Thankfully it doesn’t seem to bother her any, apart from her turning her own volume to 11

u/ballpitwitch Feb 12 '25
We had to say goodbye to our old deaf cat last summer. Still miss her loud ass every day 😹

u/kittybigs Feb 12 '25
My deaf old girl has also dialed it up to 11. She sounds just like your little old kitty.
18
u/peach_xanax Feb 13 '25
I had a deaf cat and he barely meowed at all, that's so weird! He was deaf from birth though, idk if it was the same with your cat?
21
u/kittybigs Feb 13 '25
Mine has only gone deaf in the last couple of years. She went from being an old kitty smoker to a really loud old kitty smoker. I have to announce my presence or I’ll startle her.

u/peach_xanax Feb 13 '25 edited Feb 14 '25
Ahh that's probably why! My cat was probably like, "what is a meow?" but yours was already familiar with the concept lol. Kitties with smoker voices crack me up.

I love how she screams LIKE A BANSHEE IN PAIN. Until you turn the corner and it’s just “Mow.’

Every day AND every night!
She’s happy and the performance is usually pretty short lived, so I can live with it.

Noooo, not another cat sub! Subscribed.

u/SurprisePiss Feb 14 '25
Seriously, I've been collecting them lately.
2
u/Optimus_Ed Feb 14 '25
Same here. Not on purpose, but happy with the results. Much less doom in the feed now, because it's basically 50% cats.
Also, nice username.

Adori-Belle ❤️ and may I acknowledge the architect of the cardboard city in the corner. Nice eclectic use with danish modern dining set.

u/IMNOT_A_LAWYER Feb 12 '25
Haha we recently moved in. The cats aren’t mad about all of the bonus cardboard strewn about.

Thank you for posting a video that contains a cat that is actually yelling. 99% of these videos are of cats lightly meowing and it's great to see the real deal once in awhile

I also have a 17yo kitty who sounds verryyy similar to this. The first time she did it I ran downstairs because I thought something was wrong with her. Turns out she just wanted attention.

I think my heart stopped and the hairs on my neck stood up..until I saw the adorable kitty. I never heard that sound in my life..and I owned a cat rescue!
7
u/Creative-Praline-517 Feb 13 '25
My cat does the same thing with his mousie. But if catches me looking at him he'll drop it and saunter off. Nothin to see here. Nope. Nothin to see!
8
u/IMNOT_A_LAWYER Feb 13 '25
I’m honestly surprised she hung onto the mouse here! When she’s spotted she usually switches to the normal meow, drops it, and prances away.

I have a 21 year old cat. His meows are pretty extreme. But your cat definitely out does mine.
3
u/EFCF Feb 13 '25
I like how the screaming grows in volume and intensity as we watch the clip progress.
3
u/CyberPolack Feb 13 '25
Mine does the same with his mouse and can maybe even give OPs a run for his money. Just need to get him on camera somehow.
3
u/IMNOT_A_LAWYER Feb 13 '25
She has a sixth sense for the camera and it was a small wonder that I was able to capture this hah

Loud and proud.
Beautiful.
You're so lucky you get to enjoy this every day. ☺️

My 17 year old does the exact same thing! Same volume (we can hear it outside if the windows are open), many times a day. He's insatiable!

On of my guys does this. Day and night. Almost as loud. It’s adorable and exhausting at times.

u/ElectricalWorry4628 Feb 13 '25
I already watched the whole thing. I know the source is a little cat. And yet, my instincts automatically tense me up in anticipation of some primordial bird of prey

Your neighbors want to know where your newborn human is. Haha. My deaf boy does the same thing.
1
u/Commercial-Skin-2527 Feb 13 '25
She could be confused and have dementia. Our old cat yacted that way.
1
u/IMNOT_A_LAWYER Feb 13 '25
Her eggs are definitely a little scrambled but she only does that when playing with the mouse (or demanding that we turn on the faucet)

Both my boys do this, carry the toy and scream, though normally before dinner, not breakfast.
1
u/diagnostics247 Feb 13 '25
I'm glad I am not the only one with a cat who screams with a toy in their mouth.

My cat does this every night!! She leaves me in bed to find one of her mice and proceeds to wail, with the mouse in her mouth, around the house and up the stairs, and back into my room where she finally drops it. Every single night!
