Yeah the comments praising how fat the cat is are kinda yikes.

The only thing that cat is catching is diabetes.

u/Z0idberg_MD Mar 08 '22

That cat IS diabetes.

She is definitely r/Chonkers material.

Such a toxic sub

Don't celebrate harming animals please

I honestly hate that sub, its so toxic with people calling suffering animals cute. I got banned caused I called out someone who's cat could barely walk and couldn't jump. Apparently saying its cruel was the wrong thing to put šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

The sun that encourages and promotes dieting fat cats on every post?

The mouse's name is diabetes

I'm not proud of it, but in my current living situation it's been very hard to regulate her food intake. That's as far as I'll go into it, as it's already been a frustrating issue for me. I didn't come here for owner advice nor do I care to explain myself further.

Hey, Iā€™m sorry people are making you feel bad about the situation youā€™re in. Itā€™s rough trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle for ourselves & our pets, but it is vital to ensure weā€™re giving them the best quality life possible.

If youā€™re feeling lost or like youā€™re running out of ideas for food regulation, a good & generally non-judgmental place to try is r/dechonkers :) folks post their own experiences de-chonkifying their pets & also come to the sub looking for advice/resources on how to start & maintain the process. From what Iā€™ve seen thereā€™s a huge array of techniques you can try depending on your catā€™s needs, & the community is pretty good about helping folks navigate all their options without getting overwhelmed!

Dechonkers is a fantastic and inspiring sub for owners struggling with managing their pet's weight.

Thanks, I'm open to checking out the sub. Didn't know it existed! I've tried a lot of things already, but the search is never over.

"Amazon Best Sellers: Best Automatic Cat Feeders" https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Automatic-Cat-Feeders/zgbs/pet-supplies/2975260011

These will make it easy to regulate her food intake. So it only dispenses a set amount 1-4 times a day.

There's also food bowls that only open up when the right pets microchip/pet with the right collar come up to it if you have multiple animals.

I know you didn't ask for or want any advice. I just wanted to tell you in case you didn't know about them. Good luck dechoking your master hunter.

Just throwing this out there for anyone looking at the same solution: the microchip feeders absolutely fixed my food issues with my kitties. I bought a wireless whisker auto feeder. It's not perfect, but it definitely does the job. The feeder helped my oldest cat lose nearly 10 lbs. She use to just lay around, but now she'll jump and play like a kitten. I wake up to zoomies in the middle of the night sometimes now! That never happened when she was heavier. I just can't overstate how much of a difference the weight-loss has made for her quality of life.

Her love for hunting can really help your job. Make sure to play as much as you can and get her moving as much as possible.

I know it's hard and it's even harder when you live with other people. My dog is finally starting to lose weight now thar my Dad is feeding him less scraps and we are feeding him less kibble.

We were always feeding him the right amount of kibble, the problem is he fucking hunts wildlife in our yard. It's absolutely impossible to get a dog to stop that, it's instinct. He doesn't do it every day, thankfully but it's an issue. Hence, a little less kibble.

This is how you do it, fuck the rest of you virtue signalling twats.

My little pudding-pie slimmed down once I got a laser pointer and started counting the Dreamies instead of measuring by the handful! LOL! Try the laser-pointer; she will LOVE it and you'll have a ball, too! x

I understand that you ā€œdidnā€™t come here for owner adviceā€, but you did post a video of an unhealthy cat. Itā€™s clear that you care about her, and we care about her too since weā€™re all animal lovers. There are many tools/strategies available to regulate her food intake. If you are not able to be around during the day to regulate how much food she has available at a given time for example, an auto feeder would be your best bet. She can get smaller meals at regular intervals without you having to be there.

u/Shaiya_Ashlyn Mar 07 '22

Maybe you could use a timed feeder? That way you can choose at what time and how much food your kitty will get. Also, you could always ask a vet to help you come up with a successful method

You are the human, you put the food out for her. Your living situation not enabling you to feed her less is an absolute lie. Its not rocket science to make her portions smaller and less frequent and to buy better quality food.

Look man, if you are familiar with any animal subs on Reddit you should know that if your poor pet is fat and unhealthy, people are going to call you out on it (rightfully so). Either admit that you have a problem or don't even bother replying to people. Getting defensive and refusing to even acknowledge it makes you look like a jackass.

9

u/ISmellHats Mar 07 '22

You didnā€™t come for owner advice but youā€™re getting it because youā€™re willing putting your animalā€™s life in harmā€™s way.

Regulate how much food she eats. Itā€™s as simple as providing portions at regular times or getting an automated feeder on a timer. And if somebody else is over feeding her, tell them to stop.

If your cat was really thin because you couldnā€™t feed her enough, people might be more understanding but what possible situation could you be in where feeding her less is difficult?

u/ItWasRyan Mar 07 '22

the donā€™t have a cat if you canā€™t give it the life it deserves

u/Bee8Motor Mar 07 '22
