I've become so used to disappointment from politicians of every stripe that I'm scared to trust it to be honest. What I do know is that what we currently have isn't working. The US won't survive as we are.

We also wouldn't survive for what it was. Something drastically needed to change. And this is the first step. You already see some countries lowering their tariffs. So this is working.

The money that gets wasted under our old status quo doesn't simply disappear into thin air - it falls into the pockets of some highly connected individual who sold the government some magic beans at the expense of regular people's cows.

Those highly connected people are the ones with news companies - that's why they've been breathing fire and farting thunder since Trump first committed to running for president but especially lately now that waste is being cut. The waste was their windfall.

Exactly, something had to be done and we've had plenty of presidents talk big but none of them took action. Trump is actually trying to solve the problem. Now, we just have to hope it works as fast as we're hoping it does.
