We celebrate Orthodox Easter, which is the same day as Western Easter this year.
Kielbasa (a few varieties)
Something green (either asparagus or broccoli)
Sour cream with horseradish
Grated beets with horseradish
Hard-boiled eggs and pickled beet eggs
Pascha bread with a butter lamb
Dessert:
Sirnaya pascha (though our recipe is a little different—ours has maraschino cherries, golden raisins, and almonds)
Some kind of cake, because we have a family birthday that day as well

Absolutely nothing! We hosted Easter last year though and I was in the kitchen twelve hours.
Dinner: Turkey, Mashed potatoes, Honey glazed carrots, Brown sugar miso glazed ham, Pirogies, Cabbage rolls, Stuffing, Cranberry sauce, Gravy
Throughout the day… I also made: Chocolate buttercream, Vanilla buttercream, Raspberry buttercream, Chocolate cupcakes, Vanilla cupcakes, Chocolate cupcakes, Lemon ricotta cake, Warm spinach dip, Cold spinach dip, Crab stuffed mushrooms
I ran the dishwasher pretty much all day to keep up with the mess and cleaned the kitchen at least five times between. My MIL and two of my husbands aunts were in there with me throughout the day and my husband was running around the house making beds and getting guests settled. We wound up with 15 people at dinner in the end.
This year, my husband is on nights. I’m sending everyone else away and just he and I will order pizza and go to bed early.

Brazilian carioca here. Some fish dish, most likely bacalhau. Either Gomes de Sá (with potatos, boiled eggs, olives, onions and parsley) or A Braz (scrambled with eggs, onions and fries). 🥳😋

Shrimp scampi- we are so exhausted from Holy Saturday and midnight Mass, it has to be simple! Rice, green beans and mushrooms and store-bought coconut lemon-filled layer cake,

Going to hopefully attempt to make Żurek (Polish Rye soup). Never made it before and most people I know don't make it from scratch anymore but I want to try at least. Other than that no idea, it's served with kiełbasa and egg.

Yum! I’m Polish (living in australia) and I look forward to Żurek at Easter every year. Hope yours turns out delicious!

I'm probably just bringing Lemon Meringue pie. Haven't made a pie in a while and it's fresh and spring-ie

We're not big Easter people, but last year I did a smoked pulled ham, and it was a definite hit with the family. I'll be doing it again.

I’ll be tired from Easter Vigil and the morning Easter mass. I’ll make Grandma’s orange jello salad, dyed devil eggs, and empty tomb rolls (the inside is cooked with a marshmallow inside which disappears when cooks and leaves a hole inside the roll). Mom is bringing lamb chops for my husband to grill. I’ll probably make macaroni and cheese and a green vegetable. The goal is to make stuff on Saturday that’s easy to finish up after mass.

Can I have more details on the lamb?
1
u/Mobile-Entertainer60 1d ago
Sure. Super simple, really. Bone in leg (5-6 lb). 3 tablespoons of clarified butter basted over the meat, then salt and pepper generously. 1.5 tablespoons of rosemary, 1 tablespoon minced garlic rubbed onto the meat. Place in roasting pan, loosely tent foil over the top, then into a 300F oven until internal temperature is 135F, roughly 90 minutes. Rest for 15-20 minutes, carve and serve.

I don't celebrate Easter but all my Christian friends that I have invited over say that my Passover meal is better than anything they've had for Easter, so idk.

Nothing. I don't celebrate the holidays now that all is grown and living their own lives.

I always make pizzagaina (Italian meat and cheese pie), Easter bread, and crumb cake.
This year I might try making pastiera (sweet wheat berry and ricotta pie) as well.

I'm atheist, so I mainly just plan on grabbing all the markdowns leading up to and afterwards.
Dicing up some ham for ham and egg scrambles is cool.

My mom asked me to make roasted carrots and corn pudding. American south

I'm making, or rather warming up a spiral ham. My mom is making leg of lamb.
Yams, green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes and some store bought pies. And Aviation cocktails. And wine. I'm in charge of all that.
Pretty easy compared to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Honestly, I have no idea. I usually rely on the kindness of my relatives.
On the upside- I’ve never been disappointed.
Mostly we’re not an Easter crowd, but One year, my sister-in-law brought a loaf of bread to a makeshift dinner ( that’s what she was comfortable affording), and we took whatever we brought to the nearest lake and had a picnic and fed the ducks with what everyone brought and her stale bread. It was awesome.
Don’t underestimate the quality of participation
