I’m with you on this 100%! I hate it when people come over and start flipping the overhead lights. There’s a reason I’m sitting cozy in near darkness with my ambient lights.

I screech like a vampire when the overhead light gets turned on. I turn on the overhead lights in emergencies ie I dropped something and can't see 😅

It's a crime to use the big light!

People who visit my apartment often comment on why I have no big lights. I have windows, after dark I like it cozy like OP's. With many smaller lamps you can adjust the mood better.

Smart LED bulbs have been a game changer for me. I found some for $5 a piece and replace all the bulbs in the house.

So true!! all my bedroom lights are LED and its much easier to use the apps honestly and not having to use battery remotes.

I replaced the bulbs in my overhead lighting in my living and dining rooms with warm, low-wattage bulbs. The only way to get it even middling-bright is to go around turning on every lamp in the room, all of which also have low-wattage bulbs. 😁
