Is it comfortable? I’m in love with this style of couch but I haven’t found one that’s actually comfy.

It’s a long piece of furniture meant to seat multiple people, often placed in a living room, but that’s not important right now.

I'm absolutely jealous of the terrace and you (or anyone) living in Sweden.
74
u/Koutopoulos 23h ago
Don't be, it's cold and dark AF for 8 of 12 months. You can take my place when I soon move😁

u/kryonik 22h ago
Bro my country is going down the shitter and climate change is gonna make sweden a tropical zone soon. I'll trade.
38
u/StrengthToBreak 22h ago
Climate change is likely to make Sweden colder, by disrupting ocean currents that circulate warmer water into the North Atlantic.
Whereas the United States will see its subtropical area turn VERY tropical, and its temperate areas may become quite a bit nicer, if you enjoy hot summers and mild winters
→ More replies (1)6
u/Funny-Jihad 16h ago
Likely? Got any source for that? AFAIK there's a lot of disagreements over this. It's very hard to estimate that probability.
If the Gulf Stream doesn't collapse, Sweden will get warmer instead.
3
u/RecyQueen 13h ago
I’ve been reading about Gulf Stream collapse since 2003. I don’t have an estimated year, but the CO2 report is that we need to stop at our current emissions by this year and start working on reducing or we will pass the greenhouse threshold.
6
u/demaandronk 21h ago
Climate change isnt going to change the earths position towards the sun. Itll always be dark for a big chunk of the year, and thats worse than cold. Im Dutch and could never move even further up north, its depressing enough as it is.
2
u/edalcol 10h ago
It's all about perspective! I'm Brazilian and I never knew how blessed I was with the weather back home until I moved out. When I lived in London I was so depressed because of it. But I had a Russian coworker who moved there specifically for the "nice weather", lol. Honestly even Spain's winter is too long for my taste...
2
u/demaandronk 8h ago
Lol, I live in Spain in winter precisely for the weather. This year it's been very rainy, almost Dutch and now that the sun is out the difference is huge. London is basically our weather just one day off, although I've heard Londoners say Amsterdam is even more dreary. Did you go back to Brazil?

u/Foxwglocks 22h ago

43
u/Koutopoulos 22h ago
America is unfortunately one of the few countries I will never move to or visit. 😂
7
u/latexfistmassacre 20h ago
I'll admit things aren't great here at the moment, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's "I will never visit" bad
6
u/annewmoon 9h ago
Considering that you can be detained at the border and held indefinitely for some tweets, until this administration is gone, yeah it’s that bad.

hat stainless steel island is my dream
23
u/draynaccarato 23h ago
I had SS countertops and they were a nightmare, sadly.
5
u/abra-ka-fuck-you 23h ago
Why did they suck? I also looked at that and thought it was my dream island. I wonder what's best.
22
u/draynaccarato 23h ago
Constant smudges/fingerprints. Even resting your arm on them, leaves a huge smudge. I was cleaning them constantly. If anyone has a SS fridge, they understand. They were gorgeous clean, but after cleaning nonstop for years, I’d finally had enough.
7
u/CarlySimonSays 22h ago
We have a SS fridge and a SS dishwasher. The only good distraction for the smudges on the fridge is to tape my nieces’ drawings onto the front.

Stainless fridge is what the lady of the house prefers looks wise, but it is such a pita to keep it looking nice when you have small kids leaving hand prints everywhere.

It looks very much like the Quovis credenza from Design Within Reach. I had one for forever and it did not smudge like others are saying most stainless steel does. It was heavy af and huge, but would make an amazing island!

Sweden has a much stronger social safety net and parenting/child support programs than America, and very high incomes, its completely doable if you are an upper middle class earner in Sweden

u/caelestis42 1d ago
Really like the colors and feel. Doesn't really feel expensive though (as if that matters). Feels more like they have spent a lot of time finding stuff they like.

u/geek180 22h ago edited 15h ago
These are expensive sofas, but they are about half that ($4,000) at Design Within Reach. My wife and I bought a Quilton sofa for her office from a DWR outlet for like $1500 in Texas.
I doubt these will stay at these "low" prices for much longer with the new tariffs.
2
u/UnblurredLines 16h ago
That's not the same couch though. The one you link is a 2.5 seater and the one in OP is the 3 seater. Not to mention sales tax is included in the link you responded to.
2
u/geek180 15h ago
Ah okay here is the 3-seat version, listed for $4,500 with that fabric. Add $400-ish for sales tax.

not in Malmö, Lund or Stockholm.

In Malmö and Lund two working adults should definitely be able to afford this eventually. Stockholm really depends on the location.

Do you know who made the steel island? Or where you bought it? I have been searching for something like this for my coming kitchen renovation.
I’m in Denmark, so could order it from Sweden if you have a link.

In Sweden you can never take the sun for granted, but light is not a weather phenomenon. There is definitely no lack of it in the spring, summer and early fall!

Yes, I agree. It's very chaotic, energetic, and stressful. Nice color scheme for a kids' playroom. Not somewhere i would sit down and write or relax and have a drink.

u/itslonelyinhere 6h ago
I'm starting to find a lot of posts here that are absolutely not cozy. This looks 'cool' or 'trendy' or whatever, but definitely not cozy.

u/Pleasant_Studio9690 1d ago
Wow you guys have color over there? -An American stuck in the current grey, monotone- addiction hellscape.
5
u/CarlySimonSays 22h ago
The gray interiors here are awful. I live in a part of the US that is gray and gloomy for much of the year, so I don’t understand wanting to bring that indoors!
The only worse thing is the trend for (sad) beige nurseries. Babies and little kids need color!

It's nice, but there's a table over a radiator that blows out air, you should remove it for the heat to travel into the room.
