BTS David Corenswet’s Superman has been trapped Spoiler

u/anthamsdeadite Jul 10 '24
My guess is metamorpho. Perhaps hawkgirl, Guy, metamorpho turn on him as he’s framed by his clone. Terrific is the only one to question the reality of the “crimes” supermans committing, therefore making him a fugitive along with supes

u/FlatulentSon Jul 10 '24
Clone? What clone?

u/anthamsdeadite Jul 10 '24
based off of really flimsy evidence and supposed “leaks” (basically just rumours backed by some info leakers) a superman clone will be the physical antagonist of this movie. Apparantly it’s ultraman. Just making theories based on that

Man I feel like if the rumors are true, this movie's going to have A LOT going on. Not sure if that's good or bad.
7
u/GibsonMC Jul 10 '24
With James Gunn, it depends. The Suicide Squad had a lot going on and it worked wonderfully. Guardians vol. 2 had a lot going on and it felt like 3 disjointed episodes of a TV show forced together.
8
u/ArmandoGalvez Jul 10 '24
Gotg vol3 has way more stuff going on and it worked too, James Gunn has refined his technique compared to gotg vol 2, I know I won't be disappointed with Gunn's movie on that part at least
9
u/monstergert Jul 10 '24
Imo that definitely wasn't a bad thing, I loved rewatching gotg 2 because there was so much in it
7
u/Ornery-Concern4104 Jul 10 '24
I disagree on Vol2. It did have alot going on. I think like... 3/4 plot lines but with a slow ass plot progression so it was able to get all of it in without any of them being shit
Anyways, all the plot stuff was still connected thematically and those two films are team flicks anyways. If there's a lot going on but with a relatively small cast, it shouldn't be too crowded

u/MarcusForrest Jul 11 '24
Apparantly it’s ultraman
I don't think it is wise to suggest it is ''apparently'' Ultraman for now - the design is much closer to Ulysses - including the ''U'' logo - but only time will tell!
It would feel out of place if Gunn went for an Ultraman adaptation straight away - it definitely feels like a new take on Ulysses but it is fine as Ulysses has never been widely known - on the other hand, Ultraman is pretty popular and is part of many many important and impactful stories across the DC Omniverse, I doubt Gunn would re-adapt the character that way

id assume its gonna end up being bizarro. gunn said he was inspired by Bruce Timm’s and Paul Dinis animated universe, meaning ultraman will likely “degrade” throughout the movie eventually becoming Bizarro
8
u/PantsUnderUnderpants Jul 10 '24
That's the best version of Bizarro, imo. He's sympathetic and eventually helpful instead of pure evil.
2
u/Daimakku1 Jul 10 '24
I’m so glad that the DCAU is a big influence on this new movie, and hopefully the whole DCU. Outside of the comics themselves, the DCAU has been the best DC shared universe.
2
u/LAVENDREP Jul 10 '24
Sounds awesome to me! I still believe it’s not a great idea to start a new universe with a Bizzaro story but who knows it could be amazing 🤷♂️
2
u/--Alix-- Jul 11 '24
Gunn has also gone on record saying that the main villain is straight up Lex Luthor. So more than likely, the Bizarro twist is moreso a plot element rather than the climax of the film.

u/Curiouso_Giorgio Jul 11 '24
If he loves Bizarro and has an idea of how to use him, he should. I don't like cinematic universes holding off on characters until later. If you can use something and it's fun/cool/entertaining, do it. Don't worry about squandering characters, comic lore has plenty of other stuff to mine, and you can even crate new ones if necessary. Make a film you're making now the most fun you can and worry about the future later.

Why is everyone saying Metamorpho? I don't understand his relation with the photo

They are spoiling too much. By the time the film comes out we'll basically know the script and it will hurt the film at the BO. Remeber they kept Doomsday under wraps util just before BvS came out. Snyder was proud they managed to do it. Gunn is trying to get people interested in the film, but this may backfire in the long run.

u/PurpleGuy04 Jul 10 '24
Look at the angle, these are paparazzi photos

u/Key-Equal933 Jul 10 '24
Gunn is allowing a lot of such photos. He controls set security. it didn't happen with MOS or SR. Some of the photos are not complimentary to Corenswet. Like when he squinched his face before taking off into flight. A good publicist/marketing person would not allow that.
7
u/--Alix-- Jul 11 '24
Gunn is publicly filming only a few select scenes. He can't control who takes what photos then. These are still leaks, but Gunn is just controlling the environment.
We know there's going to be action. We know Superman is going to have fights in Metropolis. These are all given. Everything else at this point is still speculation. Even the Ultraman theory, which has the most evidence at this time, is not a confirmed thing.

I'm not so sure. I feel like Gunn doesn't shy away from those sorts of things. Comedy sells. Even outside of him, I'm reminded of the behind the scenes footage of Supergirl and Flash jumping around and waving their arms. It's silly, but people like that.

u/TheLeanerWiener Jul 11 '24
Man of Steel was mostly filmed on a closed set. These scenes are filmed in an actual city that still has to, you know... be a city. No one can fully control.
A good publicist/marketing person would not allow that.
It's almost like these weren't released by a publicist or marketing person...

You don’t have to be here bud. If you go looking for spoilers, you’ll find them.

u/darthyogi Jul 10 '24
Superman is probably fighting Green Lantern and Hawkgirl. Its gonna be like the Black Adam v JSOA fight.
28
u/Burgoonius Jul 10 '24
If that’s the case then I’m excited - only good part of Black Adam were the fights

How fun. I watched them dig this last week. I work a building over and it's been fun watching the area slowly convert to Metropolis! I certainly didn't think they would be putting Superman in there!! Haha.
I'm excited on two levels for the film! One because it's Superman and two, just to try and find all the Cleveland landmarks I can! Even though I'm sure all this shooting will amount to like five minutes of screentime!

u/AtticusSwoopenheiser Jul 10 '24
Well, we know one thing.
Someone, somewhere in this movie, gets at least one really good shot in on Supes.

Peter Dinklage as Mxyzptlk, confirmed
4
u/Daimakku1 Jul 10 '24
Screw Peter Dinklage. I want Warwick Davis as Mr. Mxyzptlk
6
u/ThorsRake Jul 10 '24
Fully on board with that! Warwick's such a legend and has the better voice for it.
3
u/lil_grey_alien Jul 11 '24
Dinklage and Davis are the GOATs but I’d like to see some other actors of their stature get the big roles- say for instance Martin Klebba of the PotC franchise.

What if this is a prank Gunn pulled on David and not an actual set piece
2
u/AmptiShanti Jul 11 '24
These shots are hilarious (as well as great) just imagine James Gun in the back like “now ACT show me more”
4
u/TheRealOfficerBalls Jul 10 '24
ngl that looks like Cavill from here.
1
u/neoblackdragon Jul 12 '24
Yeah he and Cavil look very much alike in the suit and the hairstyle. Also didn't realize how big the guy was either.

Why does this look like AI or photoshop? Its so blurred and vibrant
7
u/oldmanjenkinsTV Jul 10 '24
The OG pic probably wasn’t very HQ so they added a smoothing filter over it
2
u/Super_Candidate7809 Jul 10 '24
Why didn’t he take the fight out of the city? And why isn’t he smiling? Smh

We're gonna be getting the whole movie in leaks at this point. I really hope this isn't intentional.

Superman is powerful he always will be in situations like these , this isn’t a spoiler.

All these leaks are actually just the film crew having fun and pranking us. The actual movie has been finished shooting long time ago.

“Now, David, we talked about no more set photo leaks… I don’t care what your publicist said. Matter of fact, don’t you wonder where your publicist is?” /s

I have never seen this much BTS in a DC movie like ever.
1
u/Key-Equal933 Jul 10 '24
I noticed that too. It could be they are trying to get buzz going for the film as so far it doesn't have much.
1
u/Capt_Code Jul 10 '24
Most of it will be replaced with CG, contrary to popular belief. Although the vfx studios will have excellent lighting reference. So yay

I like that they seem to be doing a lot of in-camera stuff with practical sets and locations.
