NEWS Visit to the set of “Supergirl” brought the first face-to-face meeting between Tom King, Bilquis Evely and Matheus Lopes.

According to the article, Bilquis reinforced the strictly professional contact throughout the years of partnership. “Among so many possibilities, our first meeting was at a very extraordinary moment. We have been working together for years and, surprisingly, we have never called each other or anything like that. Our dialogue was limited to very direct emails with only the information necessary for our projects”. Despite this, the artist already felt close to Tom King. “I spent so much time reading and re-reading his scripts, it was as if I knew him very well, it was as if we were already great friends. That's what I told him when we met and he agreed. Meeting him under these circumstances made everything more special and magical”, she concludes.

Tom King said, “If Mat and Bil met me and thought ‘oh my God, this guy is horrible’ in person… I’m so desperate to keep seeing their emails in my inbox, seeing the transcendental heights they reach and how I can somehow contribute to that. It was mainly nervousness because of that nervousness,” the screenwriter explained, adding humorously: “That’s why I completely disguised my personality! A little joke, but based on the truth. I simply admire what they do so much, and being with them in person was an absolute joy.”

Colorist Matheus Lopes also felt like he already knew King, even if only through the internet, by following his visits to podcasts, when promoting the team’s comics. “But face-to-face contact is much more human, natural and rich. It was really cool and I hope to meet him again in the future. It was a great pleasure to meet Tom King after working together for so long,” he told Fora do Plástico.

Fucking bonkers that the colorist is there. They usually get no respect or credit for how they elevate comic art. Glad to see he's getting the respect he deserves

The colouring in Woman of Tomorrow is what really makes the art shine. Bilquis is a legend of course but the colouring takes her work to another level.

Matheus Lopes had done so much colouring that I personally love. I really wish colourist can have more attention, the colour of a comic really is the most crucial aspect for me

I remember Dave Gibbons once said John Higgins is the unsung hero of Watchmen. I'd say the role Lopes colors have in Woman of Tomorrow have similar importance.

I used to be buds with Tom, and it's still so adorable that he is afraid someone might not like him. He's literally the nicest dude.
