Discussion Giving context to George Blaha's so-called diss on SGA that is going viral now

A short clip is making its rounds on social media now on George Blaha's so-called diss on SGA as MVP.

This is what George Blaha said in the viral clip: "A measly three assists for SGA and 10/26 shooting. He may be the MVP, but he’s not the best player in the world. The Joker is the best player in the world. He had a 61-point triple-double last night and had more than three assists."

Now the context. The Pistons played OKC very shorthanded, without Cade, Stew, Holland, and Sasser. OKC punished the Pistons immediately, burying them with a double digit lead. But the Pistons fought back, reducing the lead to 4 before halftime. But OKC buried them again in the 3rd quarter. What's worse, Tobias Harris got reinjured so a Pistons loss was all but certain.

During the whole coverage, Greg Kelser praised SGA a lot. Called him MVP many times. And George was agreeing with Greg!

The very shorthanded Pistons made a run midway into the 4th. They brought the lead down to five, forcing OKC to bring back SGA who thought they would be able to rest the whole 4th quarter. OKC recovered and made a run but the Pistons did not quit and were able to bring the lead down to four. Then OKC clamped down on defense and did not let the Pistons score anymore in the last four minutes while they were able to build a comfortable lead again. With just over 40 seconds remaining, the Pistons rightfully stopped trying to make a comeback down 14.

Then the trigger to Blaha's tirade happened. There were 26.7 seconds remaining. The game was already won. Dennis Schroeder was expecting that OKC would just run down the clock. SGA called for a screen. Dennis went over the screen, bumped SGA a bit. Then SGA exaggerated the contact almost diving to the floor, getting a foul called which sent him to the free throw line. Dennis made his displeasure known to Coach Mark, then to SGA, and SGA kept on talking back to Dennis justifying why he was still trying to draw fouls with less than 30 seconds left with a double digit lead. Then the crowd started shouting MVP chants to shut Schroeder up.

That is when Blaha lost it and started talking shit. LOL. George has always been a classy guy but this season, he does not hold back anymore when an opponent blatantly acts in an unsportsmanlike manner against the Pistons (like him trashing Jalen Green celebrating a drive to the hoop when the Rockets already lost). SGA still calling a play and selling a foul to score free throws when the Pistons clearly already waved the white flag must be very disrespectful from the POV of George, especially after how the shorthanded Pistons fought back against the league leaders. When SGA would not stop talking as Schroeder ran down the clock in the Pistons' last possession, George really let loose against SGA (not captured in the viral clip) and Greg, who was all praises to SGA the whole game, did not say a word anymore until the end of the broadcast.

And that is the story of George Blaha's so-called diss on SGA.

Discussion Non-Piston fan here. What are the fans’ take(s) on Marcus Sasser?

Been keeping tabs on him for the past two seasons, as he seems to perform well when given enough minutes—and I’ve read in the past about some scouts thinking he might be or could be better than Jaden Ivey.

What are the fan base’s general notes on the kid? I thought with Ivey out he’d get consistent minutes but he seems to be given a very erratic amount of time to play per game.

Do y’all like what you’ve seen out of him thus far?

Discussion NBA’s No-Call Trend Is Heating Up

I’m in full support of Steph Curry stepping up to address this situation. It’s hard for players like him and Cade Cunningham to keep their heads up in spite of the missed calls. Both of them are literally getting beat up just trying to stay out of the next injury report. With Cade being out of action (no return date) after another “NO-CALL,” it’s time to put some pressure on Adam Silver to get more involved. While Cade and Steph don’t complain a lot - LET’S GO! 🛑🏀👀

Discussion The NBA painting Ja Morant as a villainous “thug” is why he is a perfect fit for the Pistons

I really think the Pistons could push for a trade for him or (due to his unhappiness in Memphis) sign him cheaper than market value for team building.

Look, Detroit is back on their Bad Boys mentality. Detroit is and always will be the true grit of NBA and basketball culture. With such a gritty, athletic, talented core, Ja Morant is a great fit. We know Detroit isn't the villain. Maybe some people misunderstand our image, toughness, and passion. This reminds me of Ja Morant as a person, especially with the recent "finger guns" fine/punishment. For YEARS players have been doing this without issue, however we see the NBA constantly uphold this image of Ja as this scary thug when in reality he is just a guy who plays hard to the bone and wants to display that he is a bad man not to be messed with. Maybe he has his problems here and there, but truly he embodies the "Detroit vs. Everybody" mentality. I think a player of that would not only fit well into our culture and scheme, but would contribute to our identity as a whole with a fan base that actually appreciates that. Maybe it's crazy, I'm not sure. But it feels like Ja would be a great fit in Detroit if his contract wasn't so huge and he was in it to win it over the money.

As sad as that may sound, they needed a floor general so bad that he looks great for them. Happy for him.

Discussion How would you feel if the NBA fined Malik Beasley for doing a gun celebration like Ja?

The Ja fine got me thinking, where’s the line for these types of celebrations? It’s a celebration that a lot of guys do, but Ja gets fined for it because of his past transgressions.

Would Beasley get in trouble too seeing he also had gun problems in the past?

IMO it’s a two-way stupid street, Ja is stupid for doing it, but the NBA is also stupid for singling him out for a celebration a lot of players do.

Discussion Spots to park for game

I’m looking to go to Pistons/Bucks game next weekend. Where are some good places to find parking? Have some familiarity with the downtown but haven’t been to this new arena yet for a game. Thanks in advance.

Discussion Let's get that one regular season win to secure the playoff spot

Atlanta's loss today against Dallas cost them the chance to knock out the Pistons from the final playoff spot in the East. Orlando still has a chance. to knock us back to the play-in as they have the edge on the season series, 2-1. The team now just needs to get that one regular season win to secure the playoff spot.

Coming games are against Raptors, Grizzlies, Kings, Knicks, and the Bucks twice. Hope Pistons get it by the next game.

Pistons still have a chance to tie the Cavs record during their turnaround season, 44-38 in 2021-22. They already matched or exceeded the turnaround seasons of the Rockets (41-41 in 2023-24), Magic (34-48 in 2022-23), and OKC (40-42 in 2022-23).

Image This season's improvement in one chart

This chart says it all: Detroit has completely reshaped its rotation.

2023-24: A Season of Trial and Error

31 different players saw minutes. Hard to build chemistry like that.

Young talent showed flashes, but the roster was in constant flux.

2024-25: Stability and Growth

A core is finally taking shape: Cade, Jaden, Duren, and Ausar.

Smart veteran additions in Tobias Harris, Malik Beasley, and Tim Hardaway Jr.

A more focused rotation means better development and stronger team play.

The result? A team that looks ready to take a real step forward.
