It's either uncomfortable as hell or not supportive when used as an actual sofa.

Definitely doesnt work as well as shown.

The corner wall is supporting two sides.

162

u/RedWum 7d ago

So it works as well as shown if you have a corner wall for that space.

121

u/JohnnyWix 7d ago

It will certainly work as shown if used as shown.

Lol! You jerks!

I have a couch that's got lots of squares that come apart and move, and the real downside is that you have to lash them together underneath with these clip things. They're really heavy duty because they need to be, but it makes it a little bit difficult. You don't just get to move the couch around all easy peasy like that you have to get down on your belly and reach your arm under and push on the clip so that it disengages so you can pull the pieces apart. Otherwise, anytime that you use both cushions at the same time, the couch spreads apart and you have a huge crack to fall into. They didn't address this at all - and made it appear that that wasn't going to be a problem. That's my first reason to think that this is advertising lies.

This.  I have a couch without the clips.  And yes it sucks.  Slides whenever you rest on it.

Two squares are sawed together, as it is a foldable single unit.

For the support, there ia that L shaped bar.

u/Legitimate-Category8 3d ago

And also who is gonna take the time to move stuff around for all these configurations. More likely it'll stay in one layout forever.

Just like the hypotenuse!

I have something similar called a nugget (its actually a kids couch/fort. Really cute). I also have IVDD in my spine, several bulging discs, hips that are not in alignment, and a few other issues (lol). Anyway, the firmness is great for me, and the versatility helps when I need support in different places in a way that no other couch has ever been able to accommodate my body.

Idk if this one specifically is firm, but the nugget version is great.

18

u/Owobowos-Mowbius 6d ago

Yeah I've heard great things about the nugget. I've also heard really weird adult things about the nugget lmao

11

u/Sandwitch_horror 6d ago

Lmao, I mean to each their own I guess. I have a kid who uses them all the time so it would definitely feel gross to fuck on them.

8

u/Owobowos-Mowbius 6d ago

Absolutely. I can see why people would think the shapes and material are convenient, but that would be nasty as hell if you had kids.

6

u/WubbaLubbaDubDub87 5d ago

This. After living in Japan and South Korea for 5 years, I can confirm that the couches are like sitting on padded bricks.

10

u/Practical_Regret513 7d ago

They tried to do something like this with tools in the electrical industry and all they did was make a tool that sort of does what it needs to but not anywhere near as good as the originals.

This would be a goodish buy if I lived in a studio apartment and was accepting of mediocrity

11

u/karlnite 7d ago

It’s also ugly.

2

u/error_error_40 6d ago

Ugly as hell too

Japanese sit on the floor and sleep on the floor. I dont think they notice the difference.

22

u/smokeshack 7d ago

In 1963, sure. These days most Japanese people have one room in their house with tatami, if they have it at all.

11

u/Tornadodash 7d ago

But anime characters sleep on the floors so often. Are you telling me anime lied to me? /S

-33

u/Songrot 7d ago

The moment when you google what a Tatami is, you realise that my statement remains intact

32

u/smokeshack 7d ago

Sweetheart, I am typing this comment from Tokyo. Japanese people are not sitting on hardwood floors, linoleum, or marble tiling, either. When we sit on the floor in Japan, we sit on tatami.

18

u/evilspawn_usmc 7d ago

Big deal, you're in Tokyo, but have you ever actually BEEN to Japan?

/s

-11

u/Songrot 6d ago

You are aware what this post and this comment tree is about? The first claim was that the couch is uncomfortable as its not cushioned. It's like sitting or lying on the floor with minimum cushion like tatami.

Weebs being so offended is such a redditor illness lmao

It's a pain in the ass. My wife and I had something like that. Way too hard and heavy. So in the end, you just leave it as is. After a day of work for both of us, and taking care of our child, what do you wanna do? You puzzle around your sofa pieces. No you don't!

151

u/marco161091 7d ago edited 7d ago

I mean, I think that’s the use case. I doubt anyone would want to change it multiple times a day.

They’re just showing off the many configurations you can set it up in, and it provides a lot of flexibility for the customer.

Most people will just set it how they like; then maybe change things up every few weeks or months.

It’s not for me, personally, though.

11

u/peterpodolski 7d ago

I get the advertisment. There's so many Layouts of couches in all forms and colours and sizes. Just get the one that you like and fits your living space. Then you don't need to puzzle at all, is all!

35

u/umidk9 7d ago

As someone who moves a fair bit due to renting in a hcol city I quite like this. I end up having to get rid of some furniture every year or so, and get other stuff here and there as my space and needs change. So something like this seems quite nice.

2

u/justneurostuff 6d ago

but the stuff i like changes all the time :(

1

u/everett640 5d ago

Being able to make it into a full layout bed for visitors is nice though

12

u/affemannen 7d ago

Lol, i was just going to say if you are over a certain age that shit will remain in one configuration only and then there is plenty of better alternatives.

7

u/dibalh 6d ago

It’s interesting you mention age because it plays a big part in furniture choice. The IKEA demographic is all young people. By their 30’s people buy real furniture and after 40’s people like to buy custom bespoke furniture.

13

u/LiveLearnCoach 6d ago

You might want to consider yourself lucky if you are getting “custom bespoke” furniture over 40.

3

u/binarypower 6d ago

i think the meme on reddit has become that if you're old you're rich because you're old

1

u/dibalh 6d ago

It’s what I heard on Planet Money. But personally, no, I’m going to be stuck paying my student loans until I retire instead. Even if I could afford the furniture, I couldn’t afford the square footage to put it in.

2

u/affemannen 6d ago

In my 20s i would be fully on board to shuffle around furniture for parties or just generally having people over, in fact i did. Im almost 50 now and the very idea of folding/moving furniture fills me with dread.

u/foomp 7d ago

We had one in college. Not very comfortable or practical. Affectionately called the "flip'n'fuck" as that was the only situation that changed it's layout.

54

u/TivoDelNato 7d ago

Looking forward to a sloppy evening on the ol flip’n’fuck.

19

u/foomp 7d ago

Yeah .... Nobody ever claimed to use it, but it was always getting moved around and left in the 'bed" position. Shudder

10

u/jarednards 6d ago

My exs nickname was 'flip n fuck'. I didnt give her that name😔

56

u/Hauntcrow 7d ago

Surprised none of them thought of stacking then to have it 4-layers high and make it a throne

6

u/nee_chee 6d ago

I'd do that but I fear the throne would fall apart when sat on.

98

u/ozzy_thedog 7d ago

Yes I love sleeping on super cheap fake leather. 👍

5

u/Sandwitch_horror 6d ago

I mean... its supposed to be a lounging couch still. Not a nightly bed lol

27

u/GreyBeardEng 7d ago

And you have to be as young as the people in this advertisement in order to find this comfortable.

9

u/Few_Eye6528 7d ago

Cool things like this wouldn't work if you are tall (193 cm), my legs will stick out

1

u/Kroneni 6d ago

Few couches do tbh.

33

u/tomtomato0414 7d ago

Looks uncomfortable and ugly as shite

7

u/ASimpleDude868 7d ago

I really want that

6

u/Comfortable-Beyond50 7d ago

Swiss army couch

10

u/Strange_Occasion_408 7d ago

I see only one value for the sofa.

In trying to figure out the best combination for various sex positions

1

u/TropicalHairyBear 5d ago

At the same time?

3

u/NistBoi 7d ago

And here I am with my singledisfunctional fixed sofa

5

u/Wrathuk 7d ago

might be ok for a kids play room but you couldn't use this as a main sofa for a living room wouldn't last 3 months with adults sitting on it every day.

8

u/deathjokerz 7d ago

The idea is cool until you found what config suits you and never changing it again.

9

u/Kangerkong 7d ago

Not something I would want but I do like the idea of furniture being more modular

3

u/ArgeiousIV 7d ago

I don’t even think he actually ate the sandwich. Can’t trust it now

5

u/ryanandthelucys 7d ago

Me: Can we buy Minecraft? Please!

Mom: We have Minecraft at home!

4

u/BrotherMcPoyle 7d ago

So if you don’t have it against the wall like this the top just slides off?

4

u/Walk1000Miles 7d ago

How do we order this couch?

2

u/Sandwitch_horror 6d ago

So.. the nugget lmao

2

u/bigmike1339 6d ago

That's cool.

3

u/Killit_Witfya 7d ago

i cant even be bothered to press the buttons on my adjustable bed remote.

2

u/blastingarrows 7d ago

Ahhh. Looks like you found the newly modeled college flip and fuck sofa. /s

2

u/mattblack77 7d ago

That looks like a shithouse mattress to sleep on

3

u/ShadowMerlyn 7d ago

That doesn’t look like it would be nearly as functional, comfortable, or durable as the video implies it is. I’m all for creative designs but it seems that the phrase “jack of all trades, master of none” would apply here.

2

u/Walk1000Miles 7d ago

How do we order this couch!

1

u/zombieking079 6d ago

This is some black magic. Get 5 sofas in 1 kind of thing.

1

u/idk-idk-idk-idk-idk- 6d ago

If this was comfortable enough I’d use it as an all in 1 bed

1

u/Nearby-Aioli2848 6d ago

Links please 🙏

1

u/FadedShinobi 6d ago

Ya waiting for the Amazon link so I can check out the reviews!

1

u/Eastern-Breadfruit72 6d ago

Who has the for that

1

u/Camrons_Mink 6d ago

That’s the nicest flip’n’fuck I’ve ever seen

1

u/sigpop16 6d ago

Ah yes, compact funuture for people that can't afford big enough homes because of the housing market.

1

u/LibGyps 6d ago

Temu ad

1

u/Traveling_Swan 5d ago

Forget about the sofa thing... where can I get that duck!?

1

u/12ozMilf 5d ago

So can we drop a link or something?

1

u/the_rabbit_king 5d ago

Eh. I don’t think I want that.

1

u/BotMinister 5d ago

Can you utilize it in this way? Yes. Will you? Probably not after the first few months.

1

u/TiaHatesSocials 4d ago

What’s up with this floor. Looks like bathroom tiles

1

u/Grow3rShow3r 3d ago

Ugly as hell but good idea thou

1

u/Poperama 3d ago

Doubt it's comfortable for long, but the kids version is a great toy (nugget couch.)

1

u/Nagrom49 3d ago

My kids have a thing like this called a nugget they build forts and shit out of it

1

u/WeedLMT69 7d ago

Somehow, this couch makes me angry...

1

u/krehns 7d ago

The worst of both worlds

1

u/F2PClashMaster 6d ago

don’t like that when you fold it you’re sitting on the part that was previously touching the ground

1

u/NostalgiaSC 7d ago

That's sofuking cool

1

u/Possible_Ad3234 7d ago

Hard as a rock

1

u/AreYouItchy 6d ago

Let’s be real here. It looks great, and with many variations would be very adaptive. But, once the cat(s) got on it, it would be theirs, and we’d be back on the floor. 😸😻

0

u/f0dder1 7d ago

If only it looked good, or comfortable 😕

-1

u/EuroTrash1999 7d ago

Fat Americans lose again.

0

u/RB1O1 7d ago

These things are only being marketed because living space standards are in a ditch.

0

u/lighttree18 7d ago

Where’s the galvanised steel tubing !?!?!  /s

0

u/Face_with_a_View 6d ago

r/lovesac are much better!!

0

u/Seaguard5 6d ago

If you’re good with the surfaces you sit on touching the floor, sure

-8

u/spaceboy83 7d ago

Looks like i’m gonna downvote and be on my way..

-2

u/Overseer_05 7d ago

everytime I hear multifunctional modularbsomething i scream inside

-3

u/GreyNoiseGaming 7d ago

Looks like something you find in the house of really annoying people who try to get you to use it while they sit on an actual sofa.

-2

u/Revolutionary_Pride4 6d ago

Doesn’t work and looks like shit 💩
