Side Profile discussion
A user on this sub, sorry can't remember who, stated the new Charger Daytona looks like a Camaro from the side. Here's all three next to each other. Same color chosen to compare on an apples to apples comparison.
Thoughts?

I still can't believe that is 75k

75k for now. Theyāre going to end up moving a whole lot of them for deep discounts eventually IMO

I keep seeing people saying that the charger looks like the Mustang and Camaro. Where tf are yall seeing this, they look nothing alike. Like sure they are both 2 door cars with a similar side window design but everything else is different.

u/GTOdriver04 2d ago
I always wanted the big coupes to return, but I was referring to the S-Class models. Not a Charger, but it fits the lineage I suppose.
Itās nice to see a BIG 2-door wearing the Charger name.

Mustang driver here - they say the same in the Mustang community. I donāt see it either.

Yeah, it seems like some people are thinking the Charger is replacing the Challenger, somehow. Then it keeps getting thrown into comparisons with (smaller) pony cars. It's a large, two door, coupe (like the original). The discontinued Challenger, which was already larger than the other pony cars, is also not really a good comparison to the new Charger, itself.
At best, the lines are similar to the Camaro in that they're similarly minimal. It's a two-box vehicle. It still looks more like the original Charger than a Camaro. It just doesn't look like a Challenger, which upsets some.

Theyāll always look better than the new Charger imo

lol fake news if Iāve ever seen it. The charger prob looks like a giant limo beside the mustang.

u/The_Lumpy_Dane 2d ago
Last time I had my Challenger at the local CDJR dealership, they actually had one parked next to a built, low mileage ZL1 Camaro. The size difference was as exaggerated as you might guess. I should have taken a pic.
To be fair, though, I do really like the looks and interior of the new Charger. I'd definitely be all over a 392 or Hellcat version with AWD, if Stellantis can stay in business long enough to make that happen.

u/Wonderful_Time_6681 2d ago
To each their own. Thereās never been a more basic looking muscle/sports car imo. Needs to be a major redesign and ice engine for me to be interested especially at $60-$70k
1
u/The_Lumpy_Dane 2d ago
The price is the thing. Either they'll figure that out and significantly lower their MSRPs, or continue having to do deep discounts. Regardless, there is no reason to pay $60K to $70K, at least not for the EV. Probably not for the Six-Pack, either. I'd do $50K for a loaded up 392 AWD with the full glass roof.
1
u/Wonderful_Time_6681 2d ago
Youāll pay that for a used one in 2 years. Thereās no way a fully loaded, brand new 392 will be $50k msrp. Kbb has my 2021 392 at $49k (highest private sale value) with 30k miles.
1
u/The_Lumpy_Dane 2d ago
KBB is all well and good, but a guy could run out right now and pick up a leftover 2023, never titled 392 Charger for less than that. Check out CarGurus or AutoTrader.
Or are you referring to widebody only?
1
u/Wonderful_Time_6681 2d ago
Oh idk I put in my vin. So I guess specific to my car. WB, manual, sunroof, all the options.
I think imma list it at $45k and hope for the best. lol

u/The_Lumpy_Dane 2d ago
Sweet! You have a relative unicorn there. I thought you were meaning a Charger.
I just sold my '23 Challenger 392 manual, back in December. Mine was a standard body. Not super loaded, just the heated seats and nice chocolate color suede seats. I got close to what I paid for it from CarMax. Only had around 6500 miles on it, though.
1
u/Wonderful_Time_6681 2d ago
Ah yea my bad, challenge.
Yea carmax offered me $41,500 if I buy one of their vehicles. But holy fuk their shit is expensive. But might do that. Idk. Depends on what the wife will let me get away with.
1
u/The_Lumpy_Dane 2d ago
Yeah, I'd have gotten more if I bought something there, too. But I had to get down to one car.

I think the charger looks pretty good. I like that it seems to draw on the classic design more than it has.
1
u/ImportanceCertain414 10h ago
Yeah, also people keep complaining about the length of the car and seem to forget the original Daytona was half the length of a football field and everyone wants one of those.

u/Fast-Bison-7697 2d ago
You can just see how unfinished it looks especially next to the camaro and mustang. Itās Such a bland car. š
4
u/DonnerPartyPicnic 2d ago
Honestly I think a flatter hood would look WAY better. The C pillar has to similar lines to the classic chargers, but the hood slope makes it look like shit.

u/ericgallant24 Charger 2d ago
The front end would look way too tall and retarded looking.

I donāt think it looks like a Camaro at all lol itās funny that people keep comparing the new pony cars to the Camaro though, the same thing happened with the new Mustang. The Charger may look bland, but thatās kind of what the Challenger looked like without the widebody. The Challenger has better proportions in my opinion though.

u/pryvisee Ram 2d ago
Where are the lines??
2
u/JP-ED 1d ago
On the Charger Daytona they're very subtle.
A YouTuber that bought one bought his in Silver and his comments were upon delivery was he was surprised to see certain lines in the vehicle that were not as noticeable in the Demo he had seen at the dealership.
Seeing one IRL is better IMO than online pictures of it.
1
u/pryvisee Ram 1d ago
I guess thatās true. Cars always look better in person than the pictures. Pictures are bad at representing depth and scale.

2
u/Dud3_Abid3s Scat Pack 2d ago
Iāve seen them in person. I actually like the look. Iām just waiting for them to drop a 6.2 supercharged Hemi in one.

u/reformedankmal 1d ago
Anyone who thinks the new charger looks like a camaro needs to get their prescription checked lmao
2
u/AcanthisittaOk1683 23h ago
When given the same color and general 2 door style I can see if it you were blind and looking 10 foot away.
2
u/ysmith83 21h ago
I this picture comparison is not all accurate because they're not all the same size. The Dodge Charger is a lot bigger than both of those.. it does make a difference... In real life they look nothing a like
4
u/userlion1 2d ago
The charger is the worse one. It 100% looks unfinished. If they just based the design on the 60s/70s era muscle cars it wouldāve looked a lot better.
Thereās also just something uncanny about the way it looks. Itās bloated but at the same time long length wise. Canāt quite put my finger on it.
This car was a failure, and unless they stick a hemi V8 in it itāll have a short lived lifecycle.

u/JP-ED 2d ago
Ok just looked up Mach 4 and... yikes. If it looks like what is in Car and Driver no thanks. My initial take.
2
u/CharacterEgg2406 2d ago
Lol yeah they did make it look like a fusion reboot. That said thats a Car and Driver ai modeled image. Iām anticipating a high performance sedan with mustang styling queues.

People will forever complain about the glass house of the Camaro. But it is one of the most aggressive designs especially in the ZL1/1LE trim.
The Mustangās front and rear donāt match the body. Round to squares.
The charger is Tesla clone with its egg shape lines.
Outgoing models for both Ford and Dodge were superior aesthetically. The Gen 5-6 Camaro was a positive move.

I just donāt like the EV

u/UnbelievableDingo 2d ago
Buy the fucking hurricane š then... jeez

I already have a 5.7. Donāt need the hurricane unless it goes in my dart. Either way better than electric

u/UnbelievableDingo 2d ago
You do know the EV us faster rightš
1
u/iBUYbrokenSUBARUS 2d ago
Faster is the least important feature though
1
u/UnbelievableDingo 2d ago
I'm still trying to figure out why I'm engaged in a conversation with someone who owns a Dart.š
1
u/TechImage69 1d ago
It's still a POS, a Model 3 Performance is faster than a lot of performance cars off the line but it doesn't make it a better car.

u/LookatthisslapNutz 2d ago
From a dig, but what about the top end, and itās not a good looking car
0
u/UnbelievableDingo 2d ago
What?
(Brovoice)
I'm into muscle cars bro...
But that EV is only like... a 9 second car...
Pfft.. off the line......
But what about 140 plus...?
....
Getthefuckouttahere
2
u/LookatthisslapNutz 2d ago
It can do 140+ but so can a hemi, but it can slow down at higher speeds, hence the what about the top end,
1
u/Melodic_Fee_5498 2d ago
They got rid of the Challenger for thisā¦ at least we still have Mustangs and Rams
1
u/Iamninja28 2d ago
I might be a Mustang guy but I do feel pretty bad for the Dodge Bros on this one. Your brand took what had become an American icon of muscle for over a decade and somehow made it the weirdest equipped yet simultaneously most bland NPC looking road car at the same time.
I miss the ad where Washington rips across the field at redcoats in his Challenger, and I have grown to use as a metric for Mopar styling, if the car wouldn't work in that ad if it was remade today, it isn't a good Dodge. The new Charger would not work in the ad.

I honestly donāt see the camaro in the dodge at all. The Camaro looks way better from the side than the charger.

Kinda misleading when the Daytona EV's length is just shy of a 747.
