You know when I thought about it more, everything will EVENTUALLY be okay. There's just too much noise and echo chamber out here in social media

Everything was eventually okay after 2008, it didn’t stop the suicides and destroyed savings accounts. It’s okay to look at a fucked up situation and go “ah this is fucked up” and still understand there is a chance for it to go back.

yeah i feel like this subreddit swings the pendulum too far in the other direction. like if something wiped out 3/4ths of the population instead of being like "we will bounce back from this horrible thing" this sub would be like "erm actually its not that bad"

Redditors not ready for this truth nuke

Everything has been okay since the beginning. Never been a better safer time to be a wage slave. Unironically.

Progress is measurable

Based on what data set?

In the US the poverty rate tends to go up and down, but it’s pretty much stayed the same for decades, hanging around 12%.

As for homelessness, from 2007 to 2024, it’s averages to 600,000 people. There are some changes, it fluctuates but nothing major.

On a global scale poverty dropped dramatically.

A lot of the economic news you see is junk headlines and not well-written. It creates ill-informed readers

Yeah but economic inequality is higher than it ever has been. I think that is just a time bomb waiting to happen.

That’s honestly a super recent development if you even go back just a few years to pre covid. The Biden stimulus bill pumped the wealth gap massively just compare the numbers. Inflation helps rich with assets and hurts wage earners without assets. Wealth gap exploded directly because of Biden even though it was already getting worse since Reagan, he basically in one fell swoop tripled it

2

u/SexyJesus7 15d ago

Can I get a source of your attributing this to Biden? Economic inequality exploded all over the world, and I can’t imagine Joe Biden caused that. I could see how the PPP loans pushed massive amounts of wealth to the rich, but that was passed by Donald Trump.

Google it? It’s a basic concept of inflation that’s like asking for a source on interest rates rising lowering liquidity lmao. then do the math yourself take a snapshot of the top 1%s net worth before and after

He printed 20% of the US dollars that have ever been put into circulation in his one administration dude. That’s the source. How did you not see this all over the news when the inflation reduction act was passed. The inflation reduction act is what CAUSED the inflation everyone knew it was standard political theatre lying with the name

1

u/SexyJesus7 15d ago

Obviously inflation hurts poor people more, I just disagree on your point that this was all Biden’s fault. The inflation reduction act cost $891 billion and would raise $738 billion. The Rescue Plan was 1.9 trillion, but compare that to about 3 trillion for just the CARES act and PPP and Trump dwarfed only COVID spending. Biden of course has some blame with his spending, but to lay all the blame at his feet is ridiculous. The reason I asked is because just about everything I find isn’t proving what you’re saying, so I was curious where you were coming from and if I was missing something?

Specifically for money printing, the Fed chair that printed all the money was appointed by Trump, and the order for printing more money was made in August of 2020 while Trump was still president. If you’re meaning national debt rising instead of literal money printing causing inflation, then you’d have to attribute a lot of that to Trump as well, considering the debt rose 4 trillion dollars more under him.

Please explain more in depth.

Inequality and poverty are not the same thing. If you’re doing well but let’s say your bother becomes a deca millionaire … and your situation doesn’t change…

You never supported his business, didn’t invest in it early when he asked or come to work for him, you don’t even patronize the company…

So he doesn’t offer you anything…

His life got better… but yours didn’t get worse. He got rich but you didn’t get poor.

Inequality now exist between you.

But his good fortune was NEVER at your expense.

Compared to when? The middle ages? Also, you can't type "There's more poors now though" on an iphone on reddit in 2025 in the US, you look silly broseph

1

u/Someones-PC 20d ago

In 1820 it was like 99% poverty, now it's 86%. So no, there are fewer "poors"

1

u/Ok_Exercise1269 7d ago

The proportion has decreased, the absolute number has increased, due to population increase.

u/Over_Offer_8270 24d ago

Hello there. I see we have the same Reddit monster.

I take a more every things fucked but if we work together it will be ok

1

u/petfriendl 20d ago

Or we'll all hang separately, right, oh, excuse me, lefty, right, wait, suddenly I'm a bit confused methinks...

2

u/Boring_Resolution659 25d ago

Who’s it going to be okay for though? It can’t be ok for everybody or even most people.

2

u/petfriendl 20d ago

It's okay for the mods, I suppose...

1

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago

It’s going to be okay in general. Some people will get hurt, some will loose their way, some will be fine and continue like normal. No matter who is in charge or how violent things get. Humanity has found its way through far worse times.

You gotta remember the average life expectancy around the world is close to 70 years. If you’re over 30, you are older than most people have ever been in human history. The average person did not make it to 30 until well past the 18th century. Things won’t be easy, things won’t be comfortable. But we will be OK. This is not the end.

u/findabetterusername 17d ago

Our Grandparents lived through the cuban missile crisis and cold war but yes any day now

1

u/wired1984 20d ago

Just because the planet and humanity end up being fine doesn’t mean it isn’t anxiety inducing.

1

u/Painty_The_Pirate 12d ago

It’s just… the country’s… pride… we can get that back…

Ok. I’m coming to terms with this. This needed to happen. It’ll be a good example for America’s children, regardless of the outcomes. It is time to seclude myself and pray for better days ahead.

Before you react impulsively with political divisions, keep in mind that this meme was posted during Biden's presidency and before the election.

Hahaha amazing - literal solid proof this entire sub is just about feeling superior whilst burying your head in the sand.

At least you admit it, I guess. How it isn’t embarrassing for you is completely beyond me

5

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago

It’s just as embarrassing to see someone like you preaching the end of times bc of a controversial administration. Like that hasn’t happened throughout “checks notes” literally the entirety of US elections.

Hear me clearly. I don’t like the Trump administration. I especially don’t like what Elon is doing. But all this talk about a coup and the end of democracy is laughably hyperbolic.

1

u/ShrimpleyPibblze 11d ago

I’ll check back in about 6months and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

Enjoy it, because the rest of us will enjoy the show. It’s been pretty good so far, I wonder what they’ll text next and to whom. Maybe nuclear codes? Who knows, it’s new bullshit every day.

One of those days it’ll be (further) irreparable damage that will upset you, because it will affect you.

THAT’S when the laughing will start. And you’ve forfeited your right to be indignant about that with your ludicrous take here.

3

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago

Okay doomer

1

u/ShrimpleyPibblze 11d ago

Enjoy, useful idiot.

3

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago

Okay doomer

1

u/ShrimpleyPibblze 11d ago

This is great - will you just reply that to anything?

The next person to say “OK doomer” is officially either a useful idiot or a Nazi supporter.

Now you;

3

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago

😂 dude you’re killing me here. You realize we agree politically right? The leeks were an atrocious fumble of national security. I said already I don’t like the Trump administration. But I didnt like the Biden administration either.

Don’t you get it? Things have always gone ass over tea kettle in American politics. Hell one of our senators had a stroke ON stage. That’s why I laugh at fools like you who think this is somehow going to be worse. The rest of us employed folks are going to keep on keeping on and use our votes to the best of our ability next time.

1

u/ShrimpleyPibblze 11d ago

Aww; no OK Doomer this time?

Having a stroke on stage is a consequence of being old.

Having a Fox News host with white power tattoos and a drinking problem as the head of the military is so on the nose it would be considered hackish and ridiculous in fiction.

You guys are “this is fine”-ing your way into actual fascism.

The reason you don’t see an issue is that you’ve been primed not to by generations of exceptionalism. You think you will be fine because you’ve always been fine.

You might be, personally. But that won’t stop all the bad things that will happen to your countrymen. And that’s why even if you think we agree, you are still wrong.

2

u/Steven-Strange22 11d ago edited 11d ago

My dude I could get shot tomorrow, I could be sent to a labor camp 30 days from now. I could live to old age. I don’t hold these views bc of exceptionalism I hold these views bc I’ve seen worse happen and we’ve made it through the other side. I take everyday as it comes one at a time and deal with each issue that comes up as well as I am able.

If I can, I will help my fellow countrymen who suffer. I acknowledge there will be and is suffering going on.

But again I say, that happens with all elections. There are always people caught in the middle of changes and agendas. This one is no worse. This administration will come and go just like all the others. A new one will take its place with its own host of controversies and issues. Freaking out and heralding the end of American democracy bc you’re letting fear blind you won’t get you anywhere. It helps no one, least of all yourself.

u/One_Pin5455 1d ago

Calm down friend, you’re going to be okay. We all are. I’m serious. You seem a little worked up. Idk what this sub is but it was on my page so don’t him me with “you guys”. You’re committing the generalizations you accuse others of committing. Have a good one!
