It's Chicago, they're gonna loot and riot. Plan? No one there had a plan beyond their next come up.

Chicago can't tell if the Russians invaded or the Bulls won the finals.

So...Covid? A good ice storm?
Anything else that lasts longer than 5 days and the average american is not remotely prepared for?

I think when society hits a certain point of abundance and comfort, a lot of people subconsciously crave a return to daily survival, to give ourselves an immediate purpose being forced into using all those survival traits we have that are kinda useless in modern life

I'd evidence that point with the rise in survival games. People WANT to experience a dismal post-apocalyptic world where survival of the fittest endures.

Oh, I had a doomsday plan!
I'LL BE WATCHING AVENGERS DOOMSDAY THE MOMENT IT RELEASES IN THEATERS!

Bitch, you live in Chicago. You already live in a post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Funny thing though, all these people were laughing at rural preppers. Now they are trying to figure out how to prep for doomsday. But they are going to have to wait twenty years after being granted four hundred different permissions to build their bunker. You know, because of that famous Democrat government efficiency.

To be fair, while martial law is a ridiculous reasons to have a “doomsday plan”, having a plan to survive in such a monster city like Chicago is just exercising reasonable caution.
The “power going down, food supplies being unable to make its way into the city, gridlock, etc” are all likely scenarios in an extreme weather event like we just saw in TN/NC and FL.
It sounds like this person just realized that major cities, such as Chicago, are death traps if/when catastrophe hits.

Yes, except for the fact that they reference a current "sociopolitical nightmare." They aren't worried about forces of nature or time; they are dooming about politics.

Well alright, worse comes to worse, there's a lot of boonies out there in the Midwest to retreat to

The person in that post said it themself.
"Everyday that goes by my impending doom gets stronger"
Mabey they should take their meds.

Have you tried checking out the YouTube channels for all the doomsday preppers you mocked for decades? Could be a good start.

Starting to think I'm a doomer. Stock pile of non perishable food, cases of water, cash, and 1000's of rounds of ammo. I've even kept 2 costco cases of TP and paper towels since before COVID. Although this is mostly from riding the waves of sales and stocking up, not for doom and gloom.

That's not dooming. That's just taking some common sense precautions incase of a natural disaster or emergency

It’s pretty foolish (imo) to NOT have an “end of the world plan”. That’s why I have porn downloaded and an ar15

I mean if the world ends were all cooked. You can't hoard enough supplies for an apocalypse.
However natural disasters can and happen. Everyone should have canned food, medicine. Possibly a generator and gas cans. And I'd argue some protection like a small firearm .
No I'm not dooming and no i don't think the world is ending.
The fact this person has no clue what to do in such a situation shows how hopeless fucked most people would be if they couldn't get supplies for even a week

Starting to think maybe human sacrifices were voluntary back in the day
“Damn the weather was really bad yesterday, this must be the sign of the end times, i guess i’ll just let the head priest rip my heart out”
