What hair colour would suit me?

I was originally hoping to get a change from the black. I was debating on pink or purple but I got my hair badly bleached professionally the other day and my hair is now orangey brown while the roots are platinum blonde (last pic, looks worse irl) so now I'm considering just going for black with lilac ghost roots but at the same time I want a change from the black but idk what other options I have so idk šŸ˜ Opinions?

you can do brown on the ends & lavender ghost roots. cherry cola red on the ends w/ any colored roots? just use color theory to remember what ur able to put on the ends- cosmo student. It looks like it didnā€™t lift all the way bc of previous color, i wouldnā€™t suggest bleaching again unless you do a test strand.

i went to a few stylists since getting my hair done and one of them did a strand test and she told me my hair didnā€™t hold up well but she also told me before doing the test that she wouldnā€™t wanna risk bleaching it herself hahaha, when i went to another stylist and told her everything that happened she told me that the first stylist couldā€™ve just said that cos she didnā€™t wanna risk touching my hair and she said that sheā€™d be fully comfortable bleaching my hair so i have no clue who to trust now lmaooo but i really donā€™t think id bleach just cos of the risk

okay so that basically means your hair is def in a fragile state. most stylists donā€™t feel comfy bleaching at that stage, ik i wouldnt. if that stylists feels comfortable i wouldnā€™t unless she has done a test strand herself tbh so she can see all thatā€™s going on. if you decide against bleach you can always just tone out the orange & go for a brown on ur ends w/ ghost roots

Your skin and eyes would make you a perfect, perfect red head. Anywhere between Blood red to Lindsey Lohan red would suit you very nicely. You could get a demi-permanent to let your hair rest before you bleach your ends again.

Colorist here. With those eyes??!! You're already beautiful! But a dark rich auburn would be stunning!! You will probably have to do it twice to get the color to deposit into the bleached hair.

Pink or purple (blue purple)

Pink for sure!!!!!! I think it would really suit your complexion and it doesn't necessarily require a pale yellow base. Like others said, I'm imaging a purpley pink!!

And you could do a gradient. Cherry red ends could also be fun with the pink

Ahhh thank you!! I think Iā€™m gonna go for the pink, Iā€™ve found a hairdresser who thinks itā€™s achievable so Iā€™m gonna spend the money and hope that I can finally fix this lmaooo

(also when i say badly bleached i understood that my hair was gonna go orange and was fine with that, it was the roots that are upsetting me as she knew i had some natural hair growing out)

did they apply the bleach on the roots first or is it because of some dye you had

1

u/evieue 2d ago

she put the bleach on my roots at the same time as everywhere else (so it was on my roots and scalp for over an hour) i had previous colour on beforehand so i was expecting my hair to be ginger but i was expecting her to wait a while before applying to the roots

at the same time is just sad to hear, roots should usually always come last no matter what

I knowww Iā€™m so confused as I specifically traveled like 2 hours to go to her as from what I saw online she seemed really good at what she does :/

If your hair can handle it you might just need a second round of bleach on your mids and ends

So, a wide range of suggestions for a variety of colors hereā€¦ Base on the posted dialog, I understand your current color is the last pic (yellow, orange, red mix). Some suggestions are for colors in lighter tones (eg, pink), which would require another round of bleach on mids & ends (as was suggested by one educated response), else itā€™ll just be a darker pinkish/redish tonal mix. With your roots as light as they are, I would propose you go for lightening your mids/ends, and apply a light strawberry blonde tone over allā€¦ Woild brighten and complement your image nicely!šŸ„° Best of luck on your decision.

Don't expect a stylist to take you from black to platinum Blonde in one sitting

Thought I clarified this so apologies but I was fully expecting ginger hair!! She just over-processed the roots for far too long. (And I also didnā€™t have black hair beforehand, it was brown, these pics are old.)

Maybe try a yellow into orange sort of ombre? Then you wouldn't have to go back to black. Or pink and orange.
