SHITPOST BY ME FOR STUDIO DOODOO in my senior year, my Highschool replaced all 530ish chairs in the building with $600 herman miller caper office chairs, then proceeded to cut funding to all segments of the arts, excluding band (because we had a nationally recognized band)

Goddamn. Before seeing the shitpost flare I thought this is the kind of cheapass Reddit post you see on r/hermanmiller

odds are that nobody at your school will ever make anything as good as the Caper chair so you should be grateful

The reason they buy the expensive chairs is that it saves them money on repetitive strain injuries over time.

They didn't pay $600 for the Capers. More like $200 a pop if you're in the US (assuming this was pre 'rona pricing).

Nah probably between 250-300 then, I've got the pricer open right now. That's fuck all TBH I've sold a metric fuck ton of Capers. I did 600 Everywhere fliptops in a single Uni alone.

It's all relative really. A KI Intellect Wave is like $100 but they're built like absolute shit and Bretford's school chair was hideous before they discontinued it. If they put in Caper Multipurpose with the pneumatic adjustment it was because of ADA, or some such, so the chair could accommodate the vertically challenged. There was probably an internal push to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Given the 12 year warranty it's a fairly smart buy, the chair will actually outlast the faculty and are infinitely repairable.

I distribute audio equipment in one of my other businesses. I use Neumann mics personally.
