Raccoons are cool, just don’t spook them at 4am when taking out the trash.

The employee handed the donut with respect, the wonderful creature took it with respect.

If only human customers could do the same.

Then the raccoon went back to it's family and friends, and spread the word that they no longer have to eat from the trash! Months later, that small city now has 2 separate lines at restaurants. One for people, and one for raccoons.

"Eat up, kids! Anything that tastes this good has to be good for you!"

I’d buy him a donut.

The way he reaches out for it with his little hands! ❤️

This raccoon is more polite than some people these days

u/PlasticFew8201 19h ago

This repeated interaction is going to get the animal killed. Don’t feed the wildlife…

u/AFTVGAMING 19h ago

I always feel like the party pooper, but yeah. It will. 😭

27

u/TheManAcrossTheHall 23h ago

I don't think feedin him's a good idea.

Hope it has its own supplies of insulin.

u/BearKatFarmer 21h ago

There will be 100 of them tomorrow.

u/Cheeserole 1d ago

Don't feed wildlife.

u/wernerverklempt 1d ago

You’re absolutely correct. Not fun to be the person wagging the finger and ruining the cuteness, but you’re right and don’t deserve to be downvoted.

16

u/yawaworhtlliwi 22h ago

They remember where they get food…will be back and get run over likely.

4

u/thatshygirl06 20h ago

Other people kill them, other people treat animals like shit, destroy their homes and etc. why is it so bad to be helpful to them?

19

u/wernerverklempt 19h ago

I love raccoons, but giving them food is not actually helpful or a good idea at all. It encourages them to be near humans, which can cause them to be a nuisance, and ultimately the raccoons will suffer for that. It also provides a food source that they will come to rely on, but it’s not a reliable food source. Thirdly, processed fatty, sugary foods are not good for them and will cause health problems.

I’m not trying to ruin anyone’s enjoyment of these delightful creatures. I was just sticking up for the person who got downvoted for saying that feeding wildlife is a bad idea. That’s all.

Hand outs are what got us in this mess. Let them pay tariffs like the penguins will /s

Things eat things. You don't want what eats Raccoons to be in your neighborhood.

If you're going to invite nature in to your area, be aware that you're inviting all of nature in to your area.

Appreciate it from a distance and don't get involved unless you absolutely have to in order to protect yourself, no matter how cute it is.

My gramp in the 70s used to feed them out of hand often. Trash panda’s!

6

u/GiBrMan24 20h ago

Great, now 10 000 racoons will show up next time

7

u/PistachioTheLizard 1d ago

Oh man that is cute. HE USED ITS HANDS PEOPLE!

2

u/JumpAccurate6637 5h ago

There's a racoon that hangs out around my dunkin doing this. Ppl, employees, everyone gives her stuff. Now she just hangs out during the day walking up to cars in the drive thru looking for hand outs. She is adorable and we all call her carrol.

2

u/the_one_eyed_ghoul 3h ago

And that's how racoons got diabetes.

2

u/Better_Carpenter4582 22h ago

Ok so i don't know anything about racoons and i don't live in the US so isn't sugar bad for racoons?

8

u/AhimsaVitae 21h ago

Yes, and raccoons are a major carrier of rabies.

2

u/janj4h 23h ago

I've just stopped to think about how there's places that sell a ball of sugar directly to your car in America. That is fucking insane.

3

u/Roy4Pris 11h ago

Correction: a deep fried ball of cake smothered in sugar.

u/Simple_Union_3097 22h ago

I’m from Monterrey, Mexico. My daughter have a 2-month-old raccoon as a pet. She’s a little wilder than a cat and doesn’t like it very much when I try to touch her.

u/FocusWupeout 14h ago

They laughing until they realize they are being handed their food next by the same dirty hands
