How do I turn off non-destructive editing?

Hello, I think Gimp 3 is really nice so far but I never use non destructive editing in any software because i work with games and at volume it slows me down and feeds severe second guessing perfectionism problems for me (I don't use project files either for that same reason) so I would very much like to disable it in Gimp 3, is there a way to do so?

When using a filter or color operation, check the "Merge filter" box.
