Is hiit training good for someone has a high metabolism?

Is hiit training good for someone has a high metabolism?

I weigh 155 pounds and male who has high metabolism that does a lot of running and my local rec centre has hiit training course would be suitable for my needs ? I’m trying to gain muscle yet keen on the intensity of hiit training course.

Would this be a good course to take to gain strength and more endurance?

Short answers- YES .

and long answer is just my train of thought based on limited knowledge full of assumptions about you, but my honest train of thoughts is as follows - Why are you so focused on your metabolism? you are probably something like 18-20? Thats where many guys have fast metabolism and are still growing, but get impatient their size isnt changing much. Also you want almost anything in your post size + strength + endurance~ xD you forgot to mention speed. I might be wrong with your age, but your patience definitely needs to be worked on, turn off social media, focus on your fitness journey and explore what brings you closer to your goals - whatever you choose, you are still active physically, and each experience will teach you something that can be used on the next path you may take.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I really appreciate it. You’re spot on in a lot of ways. I’m actually 31 and have no social media at all.. well Reddit if that counts, just been on my own running journey for over a year now. I average a 20-minute 5K, and it’s been a great way to stay grounded and push myself.

I get where you’re coming from about metabolism, age, and patience. Honestly, I’m always trying to find that balance between size, strength, and endurance.. and yeah, I probably should’ve thrown speed in there too! It’s a constant learning process, and I’ve definitely realized that staying consistent, tuning out the noise, and being open to adjusting along the way makes a huge difference. Thanks again for your perspective. Never assume 👏🏼

Oh that running time sounds good! If its been only a little over one year then you definitely put effort into it. Originally i didnt want to reply to this post because of to many assumptions xD assuming is always bad, but nobody else replied for such long time I just wrote whatever.

Now with the new information I think you should make the most of your fast metabolism as long as you can, in theory that suggests that fast metabolism leads to higher energy levels it should be an advantage for you during HIIT making it suitable workout for you.

HIIT will definitely work in favor of endurance, endurance is arguably base for all other fitness components and with proper programming it will work towards your speed and explosiveness. In HIIT I would favor proper plyometrics (not all plyo on youtube is plyo) and some strength endurance exercises (based on fitness level this could be bodyweight or weighted - KB, Hammers, tire, bags etc - exercises).

the question is if your local centre offers cardio based hiits? or something more in direction of circuit workouts with elements i mentioned earlier? I think that the moment you see kettlebells it could bring you closer to your general fitness goals that involve all fitness components. By splitting mind focus on exercises that support your strength goals and exercises that support your running goals/workout (or endurance and speed goals) ,and varying how much effort you put in each, you bring variety and balance from within yourself.

This is reply is based on my own training philosophy, knowledge and experience which is extremely limited, but hopefully helps you make your own opinion on the HIIT classes that you might take part in.
