Help help! trying to go cherry cola with black box dye

Thumbnail

i used a schwarzkopf burgundy dye yesterday over my previously box dyed black hair to try and get a cherry cola colour, but as you can see it didn’t really take. (also please excuse my bed hair lol) my roots took the red a bit more as i haven’t touched up the black in over a month

my question is - should i go back in with a bright red and hope it takes? or do i have to use a colour remover on my old black dye?

Help color correction?

not sure if color correction is the correct term, but i bleached/dyed my hair back in october and have these stubborn orange pieces throughout. ive tried both purple and blue shampoo with no luck. i dont mind my roots and am not looking to dye my roots, but whats my best step to getting this orange out? rebleaching and carefully selecting where it goes? i read maybe a gloss? i dont mind yellowy/pale blonde, it doesnt need to be toned ash (unless it does?)

help me waaahhhhh

Help Haircut next week, looking for inspiration pics

My hair is 2b so decently wavy and I wear it natural.

I am looking for a hair cut style that doesn't have short pieces. I am getting a slight trim because I am working on growing my hair out down to the waist. What do you recommend? My hair is finally long enough to wear in a side braid without pieces falling out, so I want to keep it long enough to do this (i struggle braiding my hair from the back, can only do side or pigtail braids).

What do you suggest?

Edit to add: my hair is just past my chest in length, probably considered "bra strap length"

Question My hair suddenly won’t stay straight

I have wavy/frizzy hair that I usually blow dry straight. It's long and very thick, past my mid-back when straight. I've always had dry hair and have definitely damaged it some in the past by lightening it (professionally) a few times but overall I take good care of it, get regular trims, etc. I actually have stopped coloring it in the past few months but somehow it seems to be getting less healthy and more damaged looking. When I blow it out now, it becomes frizzy about 15 minutes after, even when I use leave in conditioner, heat protectant and a styling oil. I also noticed that if I put it in a ponytail or claw clip for even a few minutes, my hair holds the shape after I take it down. If I tuck my hair behind my ears, it becomes super noticeably crimped like that. The ends start curling back up as well. This is all a recent thing. I used to be able to blow out my hair and have it last for days, even when putting it up into a messy bun or ponytail at the gym. I haven't changed my products drastically. This is the longest my hair has been so I thought maybe it had something to do with the length but even my short layers are doing it. It just won't stay smooth or straight and is driving me nuts! Open to trying anything that you all suggest.

Question Balayage to Chocolate Brown

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! I got balayage back in May of last year and I am over it. I do not love the caramel color it has turned into. At some point I did a cherry cola brunette inspired look over it and it created this caramel red tone, I just would love to have my natural hair color back. The roots are all me. What would be the best way to achieve a dark chocolate brown color and keep a bit of dimension from my current highlights? I have access to professional hair color. I have colored by hair before with Redken ShadesEQ. Also curious about low toxicity hair color and if anyone has experience with it or recommendations?

Help Dry Scalp

I shave my head about once a month and typically get this amount of dry skin flake off. I started shaving my head a long while back because of always having a dry (and quite itchy, in the winter) scalp

Is this more than just dry skin? Should I be concerned about it being something more? What can I do to help?

Help Why does the top of my hair not curl like the underneath

Thumbnail

My hair seems to have different curl/wave pattern. Underneath seems to curl in a spiral a lot more and my top layer barely has any wave. How do I style this???!!! What do I do or is there anything I can do for that top layer that doesn't seem to want to do anything.

My routine is simple, shampoo and brush through with a curl brush, clump and conditioner on the tips and brush through again with a curl brush or wide tooth comb. Then I apply my mouse, gel and curl cream in the shower while soaking wet.

Difuse on heat at first and then switch to cool difuse and scrunch out the crunch from the gel. No matter what I do with the top layer is always end up more lose and fallen out than my underneath. What do I have??? Lol. Someone help this old lady out. Please

Guys!! So after washing I use dream wow extra strength frizz spray, ouidad featherlight styling cream, then the doux mousse, then miss jessie jelly soft curls, k18 oil and diffuse. My hair is always sooo frizzy though. How can I prevent this? I think it may be the diffuser causing the frizz.

Help Hair Extensions

I am very on the fence about hair extensions but my fine hair is one of my insecurities and I think it would boost my confidence a lot. Here are my questions:

1) Tape-Ins or I-Tips? My hair stylist said those are the two types she’d recommend for my hair.

2) Did they absolutely ruin your hair?

3) I have naturally fine hair, my hair is naturally frizzy and it gets oily so I do need to wash it at least every other day. Will my hair still look oily and frizzy with extensions?

TIA

Question So what is the hottest hairstyle currently?

Last year I needed something new. I had long hair passed my waist that was really healthy but needed a trim. It was basically one length too. So I got curtain bangs and it was cute! I really liked how it framed my natural hair and it looked stylish and cute.

They have grown out now. I was pregnant last year just after they were cut and not thinking much about these things (just keeping up with hygiene and stuff of course. I wash and blow dry but but thinking of much else hair related). My baby is 6 months old and I find myself thinking about this stuff more.

Anyways, what is trending currently? I don't colour my hair ever so I just mean cut related.

Thanks!

Help Just needing comfort tbh

I just cut my hair in September to above my chin & at first I liked it and now it’s at such an awkward length trying to grow out & I absolutely hate it :( I miss my long hair SO much. I bought a halo extension to fill the void and it’s not the same D: it doesn’t blend very easily and it’s just heavy. I desperately miss my long hair and I think I’m just here looking for someone that is or has experienced the same thing and what made you feel better about your short hair? I oil my hair in rosemary every 3 nights and I massage it with the oil in to boost hair growth. I just feel frustrated and a bit alone & I feel like having someone who’s going through hair growth rn too would make me feel better lol😭

Question is this normal?

got my hair professionally colored. washed my hair next day and some dye came off on my bath towel? did some of the color/toner just wash out or what? it’s a copper hue and looks like it may have lost depth in one wash. $400+ job (top included). is it okay to ask my stylist (who I love) if this is normal?

Pretty much what the title says. I had FaceTimed my sister yesterday, and she told me that I looked like an 80s nightmare. I went to the salon today and told my stylist that I no longer wanted to look like an 80s nightmare. This is what I got.

The pictures in my pink bathroom are the “before” and the car pics are the “after”.

Question Curling iron advice?

I have 1B or 2A hair and I need a curling iron. I want my hair to have light waves on some days and slight curls on other days. My hair can get a tiny bit frizzy in humidity too.

Any recommendations for a good curler? I’m struggling with this. There are so so so many choices.
