98% fledge rate is outstanding.
As a comparison, as recently as 1970 kids in the US had a less than 98% chance of making it to age 5.

Full confession, I'd heard of the term "martin house" before. I had no idea that it was a bird house.

I remember a band named The Housemartins in the 80s. I didn’t know it was bird related.

That band is iconic. Along with their own success, the lead singer and drummer then went on to form "The Beautiful South", with another string of hits, and the bassist, Norman Cook, had a career afterwards as Fatboy Slim.

I didn’t know that! I had The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death on cassette. I was trying to remember some songs from it, and now that I’ve listened to a few again after all these years, I cannot believe how many lyrics I still remember. The brain is wild.

I loved this so much. I hope Ike has been teaching his hobby to others. I can’t believe what an impact he has had on the Purple Martins.
