Long Beach GP tips and recommendations

Hi all, a group of friends and myself are heading to the Longbeach GP next week (!!) for a friend's bachelor party. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations of how to get the most of the experience?

Thanks!

I’ve done GA and I’ve done grand stands. If you guys are willing to spend extra, I would recommend getting tickets with seating because there’s not a lot of viewing spots where you can linger as security is always ushering people to move. With that said though, there’s so many cool things to see so walk around and explore. I just liked having a designated area to sit and watch if I wanted.

We have tickets for the grandstand around t1 and we also splurged for the indy pit pass

Friday drop into turn 2/3 area. You’ll find some good sports to view and hang. I’ll be there.

They charge more Saturday.

Imsa paddock is free, go check it out.

It can be cool in the mornings and warm and sunny in the afternoon, dress accordingly. The only respite from the weather will be inside the conversation center or arena. Also that's where the real, flush toilets are located.

Do you plan to use public transportation or rideshare to get there? There's not much parking available. Also all the food is crazy expensive.

There is light rail line in Long Beach. Does the train not roll to there in race period ?

It’s available. Final stop / transit center is 1st street, one block from major entrances to the event.

The parking, I've learned from previous years of going, (though its been a while so it may have gotten worse), without getting the pass (like I should have this year), is gonna put you several blocks away from the entrance at the least.

For those who have been to Toronto or Detroit (street, not Belle Isle), how does it compare

Been unimpressed with viewing options for either of those

Haven't been to either of those, but an upside of Long Beach is that turn 1 and turn 6 are visible from the grandstands in those areas. So you get the best passing zone and one other decent passing zone from one seat, and they're split by enough lap distance that you get to see cars for more time than you otherwise would.
