[Discussion] Where are people finding health insurance to cover you outside your home country?

That all depends on what your home country is. In general European countries work together for health insurance. I'm Dutch, but if I'm on holiday in Spain and get injured so badly I need surgery over there my insurance will cover the cost.

That all depends on what your home country is.
And it depends on the country you go to. For instance, here in Germany, most employees are legally required to be in German public insurance. AFAIK there are other countries where new immigrants are not able to enter public insurance at all.

Definitely depends on your home country. I'm US based and I've seen at least three of the big insurance names offering health insurance coverage outside the US.
Edit: These are separate coverages and separate websites not connected to the local insurances other than the owning company.

This is just Spam. Read the post history. They are offering services for people seeking insurance in other posts on Expats in France.

That depends on for what and why and where you are going to at least I think.
If you need a visa, then usually from a provider that meets or exceeds the visas requirements. If you’re going to a country for work, then one that meets or exceeds the minimums of the country. If you’re just traveling for leisure, then likely one that’s giving multi-country coverages.
If you’re asking where as in how is it found, I’ve had luck with googling and asking around, but I’m not a major traveler, just abroad for a masters.

Depends on where you're coming from, where you're going to, and on what basis.
If you're immigrating to a country with public healthcare, or if your original country and your new country have reciprocal arrangements, or if your visa requires you to buy into a local healthcare situation or if you're on extended vacation with insurance from your home country are all extremely different situations.

This is just a reminder that [Discussion] posts are supposed to be for general, discussion-type questions. If you need to supply personal information for the question to make sense, then that would require an [IWantOut] post.
Due to the large amount of people who have used to [Discussion] tag to get around our title format filter, the OP of a discussion post will not be able to comment on that post. All comments from OP on a [Discussion] post will be automatically removed. Again, if OP needs to comment on the post at all (for the post to make sense), then the post should have been an [IWantOut] post.
