AskIndianCinema Good recommendations for action style South Indian movies?
I've been a Bollywood watcher my whole life but the few South Indian films I've seen, I loved them. Like Bahubali 1 & 2 and Pushpa 1 & 2 and Saaho are the only ones I've seen lol. Saaho isn't one I'd rewatch, I only watched it once but the other 2 I would and have rewatched Anyways, just looking for some action packed recommendations you think I'd like based on those movies. Don't know where to really start in terms of South Indian cinema.

Thallumaala,Aavesham, RDX,if you like Edgar Wright style action
Vikram, Kaithi,Leo if you like more grounded action more on the lines of Hong Kong Actuon but with a Tamil Flavour
Minnal Murali and Maaveeran if you want a superhero movie.
RRR for a big James Cameron style action spectacle

Or some good Balayya action movies recently or the ones with Boyapati Sreenu. Just know what you’re going for and you’ll enjoy it for the brainrot movies they are which is an art in itself

RRR is over the top movie but its fun
Aavesham is great
Vikram, Kaithi, Leo - part of same universe and imo can be watched any order but watch in release order kaithi, vikram, leo
Eega - a fly takes revenge on a rich creepy bloke for killing him in previous life
Thupparivaalan - Basically sherlock holmes with action like hong kong flicks

Sokka-Haiku by almachemist:
A few from my side
RRR Sarrainodu Eega
Goodachari Panjaa
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Kaithi has a decent emotional connection along with all the action. The Aavesham action scenes are so amazingly choreographed and the movie is funny and emotional at times. Komban has that rustic flavor and the characters seem realistic.

Thallumala ( has well choreographed action scenes, not a big fan of the movie but when compared to other Indian movies it's better)

Aparichit. Action sequences are the matrix rip offs yet a good story in their own right.

Going exactly based off of what you have watched plus getting into Telugu cinema, Magadheera, Salaar, RRR. Probably a lot of the upcoming ones too. Telugu cinema is on a major action high right now.

Maaveeran (best action choreography in any Indian film I've ever seen)
Minnal Murali
RDX
Veera Dheera Sooran (this was surprisingly good. Watch it theatres if you can)
Vishwaroopam (haven't seen part 2 but part 1 is good)
RRR (if you like Bahubali then definitely check this out). And if you liked that, check out Magadheera and Eega.
Rangasthalam was a good watch.
Anniyan still holds up, I think.
Yodha, Oru Vadakkan Veeragadha, Maantrikam, Douthyam etc (if available with English subs) are classics.
ARM
Sarpatta Parambarai
Aavesham
Rifle Club
Kantara (personally not a big fan but it's well regarded and I wanted to recommend something in Kannada. You've probably already seen or heard of KGF)
Marco (again not a personal recommendation but it was a huge hit and there's one action scene I really liked. It's gory)
