Help Inkscape internal error, closes

I installed Inkscape on my M1 Mac, no problem there.

I installed it on my older i5 Intel Mac, OS 10.15, but it launches, and after a minute, says "...encountered an internal error, closing... and shuts down. Ive tried 1.4 (current) and 1.2.2, both do it.

Before I spend hours on this - is there a known version that works with Mac 10.15? Has anyone else been using 1.4 on a Mac OS from around then?

TIA

sorry inkscape 1.0+ is not supported for Mac 10.15
so you are stacked on 0.925

edit:
it seems that inkscape 1.4 shod support High Sierra 10.13

I read the download pages but it’s not clear, so I was facing just installing and deleting version after version. Thought maybe it was an issue faced by others before.

I’ll have to just go at it.

You're getting something mixed up. Minimum OS on Intel is currently High Sierra 10.13.

I'm using Inkscape v1.4 on MacOS 10.14.6 with no issue.

I do have XQuartz v2.7.7 installed for WINE but I don't know if that is helping Inkscape or not.

Update: Used AppCleaner to remove XQuartz, restarted, and Inkscape opened OK.

You could use AppCleaner to remove Inkscape and try re-installing it.
