Anything I can do?
I thrifted this gorgeous sweater but there were 2 tiny holes right in the front. I mended them as best I could but the puckering is even more visible than the holes themselves. They are in sort of awkward locations on the chest otherwise I’d consider patches. Any advice?

I'd try to massage the mends with your fingers, if that doesn't work very well, try steam ironing on a low setting. You may have to undo the stitching and try to do it a little more loosely...

Steam it a bit. Also next time don’t pull so tight on your stitches, keep them loose - not loose enough to snag but loose enough to not pucker. I think if you steam it and kinda press it flat with your fingers this should lay a lot more flat.

Another option (though this is a visible option) might be to sew vertical stripes from the shoulders down. The placement of these holes will make any repair except the most perfect of invisible mends very…nipple loud.

it’s not godawful to the point I can’t wear it out as-is but it’s a little too close to nipply for my liking lol

check out the embroidery flair on r/visiblemending. You could do tiny leaves to cover the spots and then a few more tiny leaves in random places spread out along the front. Here is one I did to cover a little hole I darned

I would go with a visible mend in some interesting pattern and repeat throughout the sweater to make it look deliberate.

If you wanted to go over to the visible mending side, I would do something silly like an itsy bitsy teeny weenie yellow polka dot bikini, or a coconut bra, or mermaid hair and a sea shell bra. Embrace the location of the mend. Lol

I would undo your current mends and try Swiss darning instead. It’s like filling in the missing stitches.
