How can I fix my torn hood?
I snagged the hood of my favourite coat and I wondered if anyone has any tips on how to fix this in the least obvious way?

With a thread in the right colour, parachute stitching might be inconspicuous (not invisible though). https://secondsunrise.se/blogs/news/mending-resource-parachute-rangers-stitch

I don’t think there’s any totally invisible way to fix this unfortunately.
But there are many things that can be done
If your only concern is about closing up the torn fabric, ladder stitch will probably work. It’s fairly inconspicuous and is worked from the right side, leaving the seam on the inside.
For things that I won’t want to gather or pucker too much, I’ve been having a lot of fun with “baseball stitch” lately. It butts the ends of the fabric together and causes less visible puckering. The stitches are visible, so use a matching thread if you go that route.
The most “intentional” looking fix would probably be to add a patch of some kind.
I’ve had very good luck adding a patch on items like this in a different color or fabric. For example, closing up the rip and then adding some black nylon strapping material might look like it was an original feature of the jacket.
Or adding a patch here and also one on the other side to mirror it exactly could also look like it was part of the original design.
